2003 Honda 400 EX Rear rims and tires

Recommended Posts

Looking for a tire that would be good for trail riding at RAC in PA.

I would like to have the tires already mounted and looking for the best bang for the buck or nothing too aggressive.

Would the stealer be the most cost effective since I wouldnt have to pay for shipping?

I already have a set of maxxis razrs on there already and not too happy with them (plus less than half tread left)

Ok the stealer said it would be about 300 for a set of razr2 plus 50 to mount them on my rims. Good price?

The hole shots where 90 a piece

Stay away from the dealerrships for tires :realmad:Look around on line or local craigslist ( Found a pair of Razr II on rims for 150.00 a few months ago ) and mounting for 50.00 is a ripoff !

Now I have a new question. the rear rims on my ex are factory 9x8.0 but physically measure 9x9. the offset measures 5"outside and 4"inside. Ive measured several times in different spots.

Which aftermarket size rim should I use to keep it as close to stock as possible. According to the mudthrowers wheel chart I have 9x9" rims. plus I have a 11" x 9" tire on there now. If so why are my rims marked 9x8.0 and did I measure the offset correctly?

If I go with an ITP t-9 in a 9x9, the closest offset they make is 3x6

If I go with a 9x8" rim the offset is closer at 3x5

The tires on there are Maxxis RAZRs 20" x 11" x 9".

The reason Im asking is RMATVMC is cheaper than the stealers here plus I would like to have an extra set of rims/tires if needed already mounted. AM I looking to much into this? If so please smack me

  • 3 weeks later...

OK so now before I go buying a set of tires... Yes another lengthy post... I would like to upgrade to 22" rear tires (20" now)

I plan on getting a renthat 14t front sprocket anyways so that would bring me back to almost factory gear ratio?

Should I go with a 13t instead to give it more low end grunt or 14th and what tooth for the rear?

Im learning damnit!

having an issue with the unit when running under a load up a hill or in high gear, seems like the belt is slipping, there is a clapping sound coming from the primary clutch like it releases and snaps back in. i don't think I should have a noise like that. this is a friends unit and he has already replaced the primary twice with the same result.

I’m looking for a top end kit for a Yamaha. I would like to see how well the engine runs before spending $6-$7 hundred on oem. Niche has complete kits from $1-$2 hundred.  Anyone have experience with Niche or similar Chinese companies?

Does anyone use GPS, whether on a device or app to record their ATV trail rides? I have been thinking about a section where our members can upload let's say a .gpx file and share their rides on a google map for others to see where there are riding areas. Not sure if this is something of interest or how much it would be used, so just trying to get an idea.
