Looking good. A wire wheel makes easy work of sanding the exhaust. The hi temp paint lasts about a year but looks really good. I just use brillo on the header pipes and that makes them look good enough.

Also take it for a spin before you put the plastics back on that is a blast, I smile ear to ear every time.

I hope by the end of today it will be running swampcat it will get a test ride without the plastics. I might even video it. Belive it or not the steel or brass wheels is not working. so now I'm using a belt sander and it's working good but my hands have about had it.

Hey guys as of around 7:40 pm today being thursday my quad started & I backed it up and went forward and once around the yard. I had some wiring problems to workout and now thats done. I for got I unpluged 2 wires when putting the exhuast on & I had to scrape some paint off where the grounds connect to the frame. Now to recheck all my bolts, nuts & hose clamps, cotter pins. Then put on the foot boards & plastics, skid plates. Still have the front bumper to sand and paint & later on the rims & plastics. Camara battery is charging!

Not too fast THERE 2 seals are leaking on the front diff. Always something going wrong looks like about $30 something for all the seals but first I'm going to make sure the diff works for some reason he cut the wires and the front accuator was one of them so I have to fix that first.

Posted

I use a little red and tacky between the seals and metal protector, it keeps the sand and mud out. Actually I am replacing the seals on my rear diff today.

Now for the wires that were cut make sure to solder them and apply a little dielectric grease then melt some heat shrink over them. This way you don't have problems there in the future.

Thanks guys! Swampcat thanks for the info soldering the wires & heat shrink was the plan but I got some good news I was able to swap the wired part of my accuator with the one with the cut wires. The reason for this is my diff had locked in 4wd and would not come out and the metal block on my accuator was chewed up and the one I got when I bought the frame is in real good condition. So I got that done today, front brakes bleed and working & the floor boards done. My new seals & bumper bolts will be in tuesday got them order today. Lower front bumper sanded & painted.

I pulled out my Big Bear needed to do a few things probably havent been started in a year. Gassed it up charged the battery started right up. I have been using it around the property for this and that. Went to hook up my trailer to pull up to the house while it was idling it quit. Went to start it turned over but wouldnt start. After trying a few more times lost all power. Pulled it up to the house with the John Deere, the first thing i checked was the Universal fit soloenoil from Amazon and it was only a 10 AMP fuse so it does not universally fit the big bear it should be 30 AMP fuse. At the time i remember noticing it but forgot, at the time i had other problems like wiring harness being in a box stuck engine and no spark. when i bought it, yeah i know, thats one ishould have walked away from, but if i go to the trouble of hooking up my trailer and going there, its following me home.
Thats old news, i still need to check it all out see if it lost spark and see if the starter shorted out it was acting kind of sluggish, i replaced the fuse with the spare 10 amp and blew immediately. I will try a 30 and see what happens.

Oil is getting in the air box from crankcase vent tube, I put the two hoses that go to the air box together then something started to smoke on the front of the engine. There is a filter? In the line I blew that out.

My Yamaha Big Bear shifts through all the gears good, goes into reverse smoothly, but when i go to get out of reverse it takes a lot of effort to get it back to first gear, and even then it does not go very smoothly, have to pull up on the pedal really hard, anyone else ever had this problem. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
