I have owned a few quads now, and all of them have had serious mechanical issues. I fixed many of them, all except a tranny issue I had. I have owned a 1996 Yamaha Warrior, a 2002 Honda trx250ex and a 2003 Yamaha raptor 660r. The warrior got stolen, the honda had the tranny issue and was sold, and the raptor was just too damn big for what I do. I ride trails, all in the woods and dirt roads. I need a trail quad but I dont know enough about quads, my experience with them is slim. I wanted a Honda trx 400ex, I hear good things about them, but is that all there is? How are suzukis? how about polaris? I just want to broaden my horizon and not settle on just one make. It seems that hondas are expensive compared to other quads. I would like to stay in the 350 - 500cc range, I would like a sporty trail quad, and I would like to spend no more than 2,500$. What are some makes, models, and years I should look for? What are some pros and cons of that quad? thanks a lot guys!!!

Aside from being less powerful than the 450 class, not much is bad about them. The 400ex responds to bolt ons quite well and adding 450r shocks all around makes quite an improvement. For the most part as long as its maintained its bulletproof

id hate to say it being a yamaha guy but if you want a good quad thats good but not to big the 400ex is a good one. the warriors and raptor 350s are good too. but a lot of people like the 400ex.

Has anyone had a suzuki 230 quad lock the engine up?  Its a well maintained bike, it locked up when my son was riding it. Pulled the plug, it has connected with the piston. I'm thinking the con rod let go.  I don't have a service manual.  Does the engine need to come out to check further?

I am new to this site. I have a 1987 Suzuki LT230S Quadsport I think. Is there a difference between quadsport and quadrunner?
