I gave a friend a junker side by side fridge and he gave me this old junker 89 Yamaha Moto 4. We love to tinker, and it has low range and reverse so I thot would make a tractor out of it. I farm; too old to jump and stuff! But it dont run (motors not seized though) So like some people who curl up with a good book thought I would curl up with a good tinker LOL. I am Mario James, hailing from a little rock south of the Florida panhandle called JAMAICA.

Welcome Mario, you probably have a 350cc if its 4x4 and a 250cc if its 2x4 ... most of the time the older ones wont spark, usually a stator will fix you right up ...

if you can get the vin #, you can online search it ... number is on the handle bar neck, and stamped in the frame at the gear shift on the frame ... should be 17 digits

Thanks for the warm welcome, oxidized_black! Ive looked at the stickies and I dont see an manual for my quad. I dont know if any one on this forum might point me in the direction of a service manual for a 1989 Yamaha Moto4 250 cc ATV? Because I intend to farm, I wonder if a simple head - sleeve piston change might bump up the displacement to 300cc, or even 350? (YFM motor) Also could anybody tell me if anyone has done a brake conversion to hydaulics at both ends...instead of the cable? (cables dont last long in dirt an mud) Also wanna put the clutch under my left hand where it belongs, and do away with the centrifugal setup. Thanks and cheers to everyone!

Hi everyone,

bought a kazuma 50 quad and there dont seem to be much about this one on the net so was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. i would like to know what engine it is for a start for parts etc. from what i have found i think its a yamaha replica engine, 2 stroke and the guy i bought it off said he had it for about 7 years so its fairly old. its used in mopeds aswell. i would like to change head and piston at some point so really need to know what engine i have. any help much appreciated.

sorry for diving straight in

Okay so I know its not a GY6 because they were selling valves for them and my engine doesn't have em, although there are parts that look like there the same, coil pack and lead for example or cdi. So cheers for that prices are pretty decant on the second link not sure bout the first one:shocked: eBay's been pretty good

okay this is my engine- 2-Stroke 50cc 1PE40QMB, and here is a pic for a reference.

heres a link for parts, 2-stroke 50cc 1PE40QMB Minarelli Jog motor parts

runs sweet now after some fiddling, just a real mare to start, i have a new electric choke ordered that hopefully will sort the cold start out.

i have a question: is it possible that the flywheel that the starter motor spins is not as free as it should be?

it looks pretty dry in there and seems that the starter just aint got the grunt for it, took the plug out and it spins fine, so after spraying some wd40 in the hole where the starter motor goes and then doing it again did help but still not right.

appreciate any help, thanks

Hello guys, I hope I am not invading your space, but as you can see the current state of my project here it's not but about 50% ATV. I am hoping that some one here can point me to a wiring schematic that I can reference since the "Complete wiring harness" i purchased from Amazon did not include a diagram of any kind.

The ones that I am finding on line vary greatly but none show the connections for the separate 5 wire connector coming from the motor.

Can someone tell me where these wires go?

Thanks in advance for all help!

Hi, I have been around everything with a motor since I was little, and finally purchased more to get my husband, and kids involved. I have 4 quads I will be searching around for information on. I have two 2002 Suzuki LT80K quads, a 1997 Yamaha Timberwolf 250, and a 1996 Kawasaki Bayou 220. I have had different ones throughout the years, and plan on buying another Yamaha Banshee. I plan on trying to learn more about all of them, so I can customize some of them. I know nothing about them besides how to race them, my dad always took care of the rest, but figured it was time for me to learn.

If you had to choose one mod that you couldn't live without, or had to recommend one what would it be?
