I decided to go with Dyneema cable. My winch has a hole through the drum that widens on the back side. The new cable has no end, it's just cut off. I am worried that I will need a lot of line some day and pull to much out and end up with a cable no longer attached to the winch. I thought about knotting the cable after slipping it through so it couldn't come out but decided against it. I ended up tying a couple shoe strings near the end so I know to stop. I would rather have a better safeguard . What do you guys do?

Roller or hawse type fairlead & your winch Mfg. ( mine is warn ) should make a wedge lock that locks the line into the hole in the drum. I had one for mine but lost it. You simply thread the line through the hole in the drum then drive the wedge in from the back side , hence locking the cable to the drum. Hope that helps.

This 2006 ArticCat dvx400 didn't have a reverse cable. I got one and am wondering how it routes? If someone has a dvx400, could post a pic of there reverse cable routing, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have a Yamaha Timberwolf 4x4 250. I want to put a winch on it, but just wondering if the charging system will handle it or not ? Has anyone added one to their machine and have you had any issues?

I have a Sportsman 450 HO and almost killed my self when loading it on my truck with ramps.  It rolled off the top of the ramps and tailgate and nearly landed on me.  I now want to winch the ATV in to the truck.  My question is are the front side bed tiedowns in my 2011 RAM strong enough to winch to without distorting the hooks or sides of the bed?

Has anyone changed the steel cable on a 1500 lb. winch to dyneema?  Was this a positive move?  I live in the mountains of Ga. near the Ga/NC line.  There is lots of rocky ground, rough creeks and gullies, and too much red clay. I've used the steel multiple times (a couple of those I needed my doubling block) with no negative outcomes.  Anyway, are there benefits to Dyneema? What is the working life? Does the cost justify the effort to change?,
