My bike kicks out of 4x4 as soon as it moves? 4 high or 4 low both kick out But diff lock works fine? I wonder if it could be the shift button for 2wheel drive to 4x4? Or is it my differential? Help

I am having trouble with my 4x4. It won't stay in 4x4 unless the Diff lock lever is on and then,of course, its in Diff lock. The problem is it won't stay in just 4x4. I am wondering if any of you have had the front diff apart on a 700 King Quad? Does 4x4 and diff lock use the same gears? I am trying to figure out my problem here? Could it be the selector button? When you push it in the button pops back and as soon as the quad moves it kicks out of 4x4. But diff lock works fine so that is what troubles me.

Any help would be appreciated.

I've heard of them stuck in 4WD with teh actuators being the issue...I've never had one a part but did own a 2005 a few years back. There are some similar threads (stuck in 4WD) that might be interesting read:

You should try the easiest thing first by draining your diff oil and replacing it with some type of HD cleaner. Drive it for a couple of miles, shifting in and out of FWD often, then drain and fill it back up with diff oil. If that doesn't work you'll prob. have to tear into your diff ...

I'm working on a 2002 Polaris Sportsman 400 with shift indicator problems. The indicator panel only will show Neutral and Reverse. If it's in High or Low, the indicator will show "R".
I have replaced the three position indicator switch on the transmission. There is also a two position switch on the tranny that I didn't replace. If anyone is familiar with this problem, please let me know what I need to do. Any help is greatly appreciated!

When you and a group of friends decide you want to take a long group trip of camping/riding/overlanding, how far are you willing to drive for your trip? Right now, i find it really difficult to want to drive more than 2-3 hours one way.

Hi everyone, I’m new here and new to 4 wheelers. Just got a Yamaha bear tracker 250 and joined here to see if I could get some help.
The motor runs and it drives if it up on jackstands but if you get on and try to ride it, it starts to drive but then quits after a foot or two and dies out and won’t drive. The guy I got it from said he was running and using it shifting through all the gears great and he started it up the next day and it started this.
He told me he thought it was the U joint on the driveshaft. He said it was probably worn and needed to be replaced.
I just finished pulling the swing arm and rear end assembly to check out the U joint and there’s no play in it. It’s tight and not nearly enough play to be loose enough to not catch and go.
Any ideas on what it could actually be?
      Thanks
      Timothy
