Very nice project Rappy. An expensive one I bet. Are you going to race it?

Thank you!

Yes, it's a total money pit lol, could be spending money on worse things I suppose.

Yep, it's strictly a racing quad now with the rigid front end, no dunes or trails for me!

looks like she will displace a bit of sand at the crack of the throttle

Maybe a little:wink:... We will see. First debut is on the 18th, I'll post the helmet can footage.

Just to clean it up a little bit, it's not practical at all lol. That's part of building a drag bike, trying to hide wires, and just make it look very simple.

Couldn't get the dumb thing to run half right today. Best was a 5.52, which should be more like a 4.7x.

There is no fuel above 6500rpm. Will have to figure that problem out tomorrow. Here's a quick video-

Last weekend and yesterday, and tomorrow actually. Last weekend, took first place in the mod class, there were probably 10-15 bikes... Unfortunately no timers. Yesterday was T&T at West Michigan Sand Drags. Ran a 5.11 off the trailer with it having little traction and messed up gearing, ran a 5.0 at 57mph, and it was all down hill from there. It just spun like crazy!

Last week-

Guys, I've got a 1999 Honda Foreman 450S.  It runs great, but smokes out the exhaust after startup until it warms up.  I'm thinking the valve seals are leaking.  I was wondering if there is a way to replace them without removing the head or if there's an oil additive that will recondition the rubber seals.  Any advice?

I recently got my hands on a free 2004 Recon that the owner had zero information on the machine or the history. Long story short, a little troubleshooting and research revealed i needed to replace the timing chain for it to stay running. when i opened the case, it the chain was so horribly stretched, that the tensioner pivot arm had play between it and the chain! I also found the oil pump chain totally disconnected from the sprocket due to being completely worn out. I tore the whole engine down and rebuilt it from the bottom up finding little things here and there that needed to be replaced. Upon inspecting the top end, i didn't find any bad/excessive play in the crank, rod bearings or wrist pin. Now the machine runs great, but even after 2x adjusting the valves, the chatter is way more than you'd expect from a honda normally. My neighbor is an auto mechanic by trade, and i asked him to take a listen. the look on his face when i started it and it was chattering like that was priceless! He mentioned that maybe the valves themselves might be wore out or stretched. my question here: what all can cause the excessive rattle up in the valve cover aside from valves being out of spec? Everything else seemed to be in decent condition as far as rockers and guides go. I am fairly new to small engine/ATV repairs, but am learning as a hobby and have a fair amount of knowledge with how to do some wrenching. Thanks!

Hi my name is Dex, and i have an addic..oh wrong group.
I only started actually riding atvs in late 2019 with a friend from high school. After getting out and enjoying a night of riding and camping, i just found that i REALLY enjoy being out in the woods on a 4wheeler day or night. my main rig is a 2020 Can Am Outlander 570 and recently picked up a 2004 Honda Recon 250, and a Kawasaki Prairie 360. Both the honda and the Kawasaki are projects that started in pretty rough condition and are slowly becoming running, riding machines. As i research and rebuild, i am learning new skills along the way and enjoying every minute of it. Thanks for having me in the community, i hope to learn a bit more every day from each of you out there, while also sharing some experiences with you all as well!

Okay so I bought this 1997 sazuki king quad from a guy and he had it for a few years.
He had it registered and on the trails last year but he said it bogged and backfired when he would try to drive it. so it sat for a year.
I bought it for 800 bucks and got it running that night and it ran great for a few days
But I parked it the other night and went to start it again and it was really hard to fire up and when I did it was bogging and idling high then low again.
So I took the carb out and cleaned it (ended up doing it twice because it was still doing the same thing)
Now today I have it running slightly better, but it is still like 20%
I have been looking it up and trying to figure it out but I can't find the issue, has anyone else had this problem? I'll attach a video of it running and giving some throttle
