Picked up a used 2001 90 last week that needed some TLC. I cleaned it up and replaced he plug and it started right up and has been running great for last week. Will start with kick start or key.

The guy I bought it from had pulled the front plastic off to troubleshoot, so this morning I spent a couple of hours putting the plastics all back on and now it wont turn over at all with the electric start and wont start with the kick start either (sounds like no spark)

Any suggestions what to look for? I check all the obvious wire connections and everything looks like its still hooked up, but something must have happened during the plastic install.

Any suggestions on what to look for?

I would start with the ground. Check all your ground wires and make sure they are good. Your coil is on the front of your frame. You might have disconnected it messing with the plastics. Also check your cdi box. Easy to mess up the connection when installing plastics.

Thanks for the response. I finally figured out the problem and was able to get it to start. THere were two wires that were wrapped up together that I undid when I cleaned everything up and turned out they were the ground to the starter circuit.

Now the problem I have is sometimes it wont shut off... For some reason (and it does not happen every time), I can turn off the key, move the switch to sop or pull out the deadman switch and none of them shut it down. I either have to turn the fuel off and wait, or pull one of the coil leads.

Any idea what was cause this internmittently? Ive checked all the wiring under the headlight bucket for the switches and cant see anything loose or corroded.

Appreciate any help

I recently read an article about restoring or at least improving the looks of faded and discolored plastic body parts. In the article it suggested using a 50/50 mixture of boiled linseed oil and paint thinner. You mix it up and apply it with a brush or rag to rub it in and remove the oxidation. I curious to find out if anyone has had experience with doing this and what was their short/long term results of doing so. I would hate to try it and find out that a few weeks/months down the road my plastic body parts self destruct.

      Hello All
I'm kinda new to ATVs. I just bought a 1987 Suzuki quad runner 230 Dual Range. I'm having a problem finding info on it. It's very clean, only 2.800 miles. The front wheels are only 30 in.center to center. I was thinking about adding wheel spacers to give it more stability. I realize the added stress on ball joints and bearings. I'm wondering if there are any other concerns? Any input is greatly appreciated!

Im aware that this relay needs a positive (+) and a negative (-) to activate the other side. The blue wire is the neutral wire so when in neutral it gets ground. The green wire is from the parking break; when you pull the break in it gets ground (-). however one of those two needs to be neutral so that the positive from kill switch can go to the starter relay. The ground from the starter relay is from the start switch. Which one (neutral or parking break) should have a positive (+) voltage?

Bought 4 wheeler for kids. Used to run and soon as it was put in gear it died. I have put new carburater, new plug and battery. The neutral light won't come on. I replaced the solenoid, then the positive battery cable and today put new relay assembly on. Still no neutral light. Not getting any juice and I don't know why.
