1994 Suzuki King Quad - Oil Gets Hot

My 2002 doesnt have an oil temp light, just a temp light. Id double check that.

Either way, sounds like its overheating. Id check the radiator for dirt &/or debris so its getting good airflow, proper coolant level & make sure the fan is working properly. If all that checks out OK you could have a stuck thermostat bad water pump or some type of blockage of coolant in the syatem. Im no expert but I havent seen just an "oil temp" light on a quad.....but I could be wrong too.

I see, I was assuming its water cooled like mine. I guess an oil temp light on an air cooled makes sense. Id make sure you are getting good air flow around the engine & that none of the cooling fins are plugged up with mud or missing. There should be a fan somewhere on the machine, Im guessing off the crank/ flywheel. Make sure the shrouding around that is clear of debris also. I have also see a plugged up exhaust pipe make air cooled engins run hot, especially if its 2-stroke.

      Greetings,
Have a 88 LT80 that been sitting for a couple years. Bought a new piston, cylinder and head. Installed these, rolled it over and it quickly locks up.  Took carb apart. It was full of what appears to be 2 cycle oil. Cleaned it, but keeps locking up and 2 cycle oil continues to seap from exhaust port.  When i installed new cylinder, I noticed crankcase was full of oil.  I'm now wondering if that oil is what's getting sucked up into cylinder.  Should there be no oil in crankcase?  If that the case, how is crank and rod lubricated?  Sorry, never worked on a 2 stroke. Thanks!

I see quite a few ads for that  Tribotex additive. It's kind of expensive, has anyone used it it their ATV or any other vehicle?

My king quad 700 runs rough when cold then won't start some times but not often when it's hot. And occasionally smoke's a lot when it's cold I'm guessing that's rings but I'm worried unless it's causing the other problems

How often do you change oil in front/rear diffrentials and gearbox?

Has anyone else had an issue on older king quads where the oil would leak from the top of the head (due to a failed gasket) and drip onto the hot exhaust? Mine got so hot one time it caught fire. Just wondering if this is a common issue, as I've seen the same thing happen on multiple bikes that were the same model.
