  2. Wow...I packed a small soft side cooler with an ice pack at -4 F and inserted my Type K thermocouple sensor inside so I could monitor the temperature without opening. After 3 hours the inside temperature was 60 F...OMG! The ice pack was solid frozen. Standard temperature for safe storage is < 40 F. What I found by asking was that there should be no air space in the cooler. Packed with Ice preferably ice from connivence store (normally 0 F of less). Food should take up short day trip1:1 ratio. Good coolers are expensive.
  3. Yep tongue weight should be around the same 10%. Tandem axles have a few advantages, like a lower deck height because you are using 2 smaller tires instead of one big one. But then you have 2 more tires to maintain. Deck over is the best use of space if you are going to side load. I love single axles, lite, easy to tow. Easy to move around. Just didn't work for me. I ran out of storage so enclosed when the best solution for me. Everyone's situation is different. Problem with any trailer, not just single axles is being over built, or buying too much trailer. The closer you can load a trailer to it's gvwr the better it will ride. Single axles will ride rougher in general, especially when empty, it doesn't have that second axle holding the first one down.
  4. Yes my Foreman is manual...I would love something tat mounted in front of ATV....
  5. I use T4 in everything now. 15w-40 usually. Started using because of the wet clutch system. Like the heavier weights for air cooled engines. Normally I don't spend the money on synthetics because I usually don't have cold starts and I change it way more often than needed. Running it in kawasaki, suzuki, yamaha, john deere, new holland, and whatever the stupid push mower is lol.
  6. Personally I would get something with a manual trans like a kawasaki bayou for pulling at low speeds. Anything with a CVT trans, that is going to be hard on belts at those speeds.

  8. Never considered two (2)axle....I assume tongue weight would still be the same as a single axle? My 16 ft bed with 2 x 6 box tube frame jerks me around even in the truck especially when empty....
  9. Late to the party like always. So if your SxS is 10ft a 12 trailer will still not be enough for you to side load the atv. I started out with a 4x8 trailer for ATV, hated it. Could not see the trailer behind the vehicle. Bought a snowmobile trailer at auction for $100, Put new deck on it. Got another machine and started side loading it. But it was tight if either had larger tires. I have since moved on to a Thule enclosed trailer. Love it so much better. Tall enough to ride into, or for side x side. If we take the side by side we take one atv in the pickup bed. Otherwise it has room for 4 atvs. It is 8.5ft x 14ft. Aluminum. Very light, nice pulling trailer. You can move it around on the concrete by hand. It is aluminum, all of it. It is 20 years old and no signs of cracks or rot in it anywhere. Best part is, when we get home, atvs are already stored. LOL I prefer a lot of tongue weight, less chance of the trailer pushing the tow vehicle around. When you look at gvwr on a trailer you need to remember at least 10% should be tongue weight. So a trailer with 3500 gvwr, weighs 1500 pounds. Leaves 2000 pounds payload correct? actually not. 10% tongue weight would make payload 2350.
  10. I've got friends in Goodland that pop in to Colorado and ride with us !!
  11. Great morning QC !! Off for a short ride then in to the A/C before it get frickin HOT !!LOL

  13. I have E-Brackets and associated retractable straps so I am concerned also about aluminum floor Vs wood floor for mounting the E-braclets. Also tryingto keep trailer weight down so only considering single axle with 15inch wheels.
  14. My aluminum trailer with two quads on it is well over 1,000 pounds and it has worked well. I bought it in 2007 and is still used today. Torsion axles are good, my camping trailer has it and it works well.
  15. I am still struggling with buying a new trailer. My young mechanic friend told me that Aluminum trailers would should structural stress. I foynd a picture /review of a 10 ft galvalume trailer that buckled with a Polaris 1000 on it on the first haul. Also are torsion suspensions good? I have decided on a 10 ft trailer that will haul either my 1400 lb SXS. or my sand rail behind my Toyota Highkander. If i take both the Foreman and the SXS i will use my Tundra and load the Foremen in the bed of the truck.
  16. Finally, I'm back at this. I finally removed the cover and had a handful of shattered washers or spacers. There were at least two in two or three pieces each and an E clip worn completely through on one end. I will be removing the engine so I can get to the clutch and shifter parts easily. It's going be a slow project, I'm an old goat with bad hands. Pics hopefully soon. Thanks for the suggestions and remarks.
  17. Anybody familiar with this noise from my quad? Just started. It temporarily goes away when I attempt to shift into another gear but shifting has gotten harder too. Thanks 20260711_150338.mp4

  20. I'm curious. How many here rely on satellite , either geostationary or LEO ( Starlink) services for their internet? Where I am in BC's Southern interior, I have Starlink home for my internet. There is no cable or fiber here and cell service is minimal at best. I can get all the TV service I want through streaming. I recently bought and set up a Starlink Mini and lent it to my granddaughter who is working at a remote mining camp as their safety officer and paramedic. I subscribed to their 100GB monthly service and had it drop to Standby at the end of the first month service. So for an investment of $299.99 for the Mini, an initial $75 for one month of !00GB of full speed data and then $15/ mon. for standby, the Mini gives my granddaughter internet services at old dialup speeds so no streaming. It allows her to make audio calls ,and we found it also allowed her to make a video call to me although it had freezing and pixilation frequently but was still usable. So with her phone and the Mini she has internet service, and the ability to make a phone call through Messenger from anywhere in North America for CAD $15/mon. Compare that to the price of Inreach, Spot-x or any of the other emergency calling equipment and service. The Mini does not have navigation, but you can easily download maps with it. At only 10 x 12 Inches ,it can be carried in a backpack or mounted on a vehicle, quad, ATV or boat as needed and easily transferred between rides.
  21. Looks good...Available at retailers like Bas Pro shops it looks like good.
  22. I am unable to find a wiring diagram for this UTV. When I turn the switch to on, the contractor does not engage. The Brake pressure switch and the parking brake switches work correctly. What else should I be looking for? All of the diagrams I have found are for newer models and the wire color coding is different. Thanks
  23. Pushed it in !!
  24. Did not know what a VW caddy was, googled iit and it looks like a small van, low to the ground should be easy to load, you could attach a winch inside and pull it in, or push it in, should work fine. Not sure if you can ride it in roof looks low.
  25. I have the spot-x. It does text only but has an SOS emergency button. I have used it to contact friends back at camp when we were delayed back because we stopped to help with an accident. There was no cell coverage in the area.
  26. A truck, sure...If I had the money for it 🙂 What I have is access to a VW Caddy. Did you push it or ride it inside the Astro?
  27. i used to have a chevy Astro mini van that I hauled my 250 R around !! I miss it Now i haul my quads around in my Silverado ! But I have both a enclosed trailer and open flat trailer in case
  28. You have to take the throttle plate off the shaft two small screws dont loose them, then the shaft comes out and you can get to the spring, there are a few other small pieces in there dont drop them they are small and easy to loose also.
  29. Trailers are lower to the ground easier to load and unload, on the other hand just load it in the van and go no hook ups no lighting checks no stress of pulling trailer. , i always wanted to find an old El Camino or Ranchero to haul mine around in, they were lower to the ground and easier to load, but they got to expensive and hard to find. What about a truck, many people haul them in trucks. I do like the van idea covered, no trailer woes, and easy to find a used one reasonable.

Hey guys and gals. I've been working on my friends 2007 big bear IRS. Unfortunately after 3 different people got their hands on it and only made things worse every time.  After months of finding just crazy problems everywhere. I'm finally at the point we're its almost 100% !!! But I'm getting a short somewhere between the 4xW switch I believe. I managed to by searching the internet like a  fiend, got my hands on an official Yamaha wire harness for the year and make. But I don't have the numbered component list and to be honest. After hours of going through and making everything so it's  easy to reference. If anyone has a picture of the referenced components. I would be forever in your debt. I've spent hours marking up the blown up diagram so it will be easy, for any possible future repairs. Please and thank you. Here's a picture of what i have so far.  Unsealed it in plastic so oil and crap won't spill or get smudged. This damn things worth it's weight in gold.              Thanks Jeff                2007 Yamaha big bear 400 IRS.       YFM40FBW
