I am so glad that I found this site! I have a 2000 Sportsman 500 4X4 and have a couple issues. The biggest one is that the gear selector mounting bolts to the frame have vibrated loose and I can't find the size that I need on any website. I do not have any of the bottom bolts or the two side bolts to go off of. The entire gear selector has come off the frame but is still connected to the shifter linkages. Second issue is that it wants to turn left and is very hard to steer. I cannot find anything bent. Any ideas? Thanks!1 point

I would get a carb rebuild kit first, before replacing it, you could also look at the classifieds on Craigslist or Facebook I know there are guys in my area that buy broken ATv's and strip them to sell the parts. You might be able to find a good carb, and the front differential for cheap. One of my firends growing up had a '87 big bear 350 and it was a good machine, you really can't go wrong with an older Honda or Yamaha. I'm looking to pick up a '95 big bear 350 with a plow for around $1300, I would say you got a great deal if the plastics aren't broke apart. Can't help with the manuals, sorry.1 point

I saw a recent post that Snow Shoe is close to making a connection to Philipsburg. This would start at the Black Bear trallhead and I think it would add about 6-10 miles. In Philipsburg there is food, gas, and a hotel. The mine reclamation project is supposed to be done this year, so hopefully the trail around the closed viaduct will open next year. Mike1 point
