  1. Hey hay hay so I’ve recieved the new/used head and to my surprise it’s in very very good condition with no scoring whatsoever. The person that had the head threw in a bunch of additional parts, bolts, cam sensors etc even a rear rack!!!!!! Great vendor tg! Going to tear into this thing tomorrow and god willing have it ready to fire 🔥 on Sunday. It’s been a little while since I tore into an engine like this and I’m looking forward to it. Quick question... the new gaskets, in the past (long time ago) I’ve always used a schilack on each side of the gasket right before I set it in place, good bad? Any recommendations on this anyone ?

  2. Well if your able to tear into that bike then posting some pics here should be a walk on the park.  I’m curious to see how this goes. I will look into that bike in the meantime and see if I can find anything that might help.  Good luck

  3. Wow ok. I snapped mine on my Honda flush.  I drilled the center out very carefully and used an easy out to spin it out. Also I sprayed it with penetrating oil 24 hours ahead of that. The trick I used to start my drilling was a small punch tool to indent the center of the stud and a very good drill bit going slow as to not break the bit.  Easy outs are a great device for this. But room for drilling may be tight there.

  4. Sorry to hear that didn’t help. You may need to replace the ECM controller on the bike. Sometimes they just go. Have you checked for spark ? There are a ton of videos on you tube to go through regarding codes and even replacing the ECM. Take your time and don’t get frustrated.  Go through everything. Re think your steps while plowing did something hit the bike or a wire get hit or when the plow was installed maybe a wire got caught up in the intstallation? Are the controls ok any water get inside the kill switch or mode button, ignition? Spray them with with WD-40.  Definitely check for spark as well. If you are getting spark then it’s clearlry a fuel delivery problem.

  5. It is amazing how fast they rust, i drilled out a few bolts holding my plastics on while working on my recent project and while doing so it got too hot and melted the plastic 😢 and the hole was about 3/4 of an inch since it was a large pan head type bolt that held the plastic to the metal bracket. I had to use a large washer to rebolt the plastics up due to that screw up.  But def go with the stainless if you can.

  6. Here is a little bit of input on a few ways to bring up the codes. It seems that some models are diffent and turning the ignition on and off does not work on some models.  I called my friend who has a 05 said you have to turn the key off wait a few seconds and hold the yellow override button down and turn ignition on and then press the yellow button to scroll through the options and if there is a code it will come up. The bike can be running or not and has to be in neutral and 2wd. I’m attaching a few links that he pointed to watch. Good luck.

  7. I would look into all the fluids, oils etc see if any water got into the crankcase or through the air filter and any other oil filled parts of the bike, maybe change the fluids anyway just to be safe.  Only other thing ithats left is electronics check all the plugs maybe open them up and use a leaf blower to clear any residual water from the fuse block and all electronic parts.

  8. The wiring is going to be a big factor here. Only thing on your side is the color coordinated wiring. This should be somewhat easy once you’ve studied and went through the harness. If you can find the manual for this bike just take your time and follow the yellow brick road with the wiring.   I’ve went as far as taking the entire harness off of my bike and hung it on the rafters of my garage and went through it and all made repairs, taped off and respliced  as needed. It’s not as bad as it sounds and takes a lot of the guess work out of the wiring and puts the harness/wiring to rest. As far as carb and compression I am not so sure going with the 400 carb was a good idea but once you get the other issues put to rest you can see how it runs under the 400 carb. Maybe with that aftermarket exhaust you might get lucky. Compression issue sounds normal for a bike that year based on wear and tear it may be ok. I would double check and make sure that the number you seen was accurate.
