  1. Have you checked your charging system? Sounds like you are loosing voltage someplace esp since you say when you use the winch.  My friend was experiencing the same problem and finally found out his charging coil was week and not supplying the proper voltage to support the bike, winch etc.

  2. Well honestly there is not much more then that. If the bike is getting spark which you said you are sure of, compression is good and the fuel is in the bowl and the pin is not stuck. The only thing I can think of is the path that sends fuel up and into the carb is clogged either at that point where the needle is or further inside and needs to be cleared. It sounds repetitive and can be frustrating. Did you check the manifold where the carb bolts up to make sure that’s clear ?

     Keep at it.

    Good luck.

  3. Yes actually I would take the bowl off the bottom of the carb and blow through the fuel line. You should hear air coming out of the bottom of the carb. While your blowing into the fuel line raise the float up with your fingers and the air should stop. If you don’t get air when you blow into the line then the float pin is stuck in the up position.

  4. It’s clearly a fuel delivery issue. It may have gotten inside a small jet or one of the orafaces and may not be in plain sight. Its inside that little sucker someplace.   Process of elimination you will find it. Patience and persistence. Keep in mind the intake for the carb. Make sure nothing got into there! Good luck.

  5. It could be possible that you sent more junk into the new carb if you changed the gas tank petcock valve after the new carb was installed? If not then I would take a look at the carburetor hub where it enters the engine. Maybe something inside there?  I would take a look at the new carb first and make sure no clogs are  there from residual junk in the line and go from there.

  6. Hello everyone, back from a crazy few months of riding, hunting and fishing! So I’ve added a storage bag to one of my bikes and loaded it up pretty good before we went out into the woods/trails etc.  My son questioned me and said what do we need all that junk for?  I told him you never know  maybe a flat tire water etc.

Needless to say that junk came in handy.   So my question to everyone that hits the trails is what do you have or recommend to maybe take with you before you go? And what would be the one most important thing that’s a must have?

And also any recommendations on a  storage bag that’s not so costly and performs the best? I like my bag but not very good .

  7. Has it been sitting ? And is there a rev limiter ? Sounds like a lot of fuel going into the cylinder and not enough air. I would start at the mixture screws on the carb and go from there.  Double check that they have not been turned or re adjusted. If not then possibly a blockage within  the carb and a good cleaning will need to be done.

Also keep in mind that a weak spark can cause this also so should that carb be ok maybe take a quick look at the ignition system maybe a weak coil etc.

    good luck

  8. Sounds like a fuel delivery problem. Float may be stuck or the needle inside the bowl is not free slowing the fuel into the engine.I would take the carb apart give it a good cleaning and make sure all the orafaces are clear as well as check fuel flow from the valve on the gas tank. Sometimes this valve can have an obstruction inside slowing fuel delivery.

    Good luck.

  9. So quick question. Has anyone tried the cdi box in the oven trick?  I have posted a topic last week on my 1990 Honda fourtrax. Picked the bike up cheap. Bike had no spark so I went right to the obvious suspects. Cdi, stator, coil etc.  Stator coil was coming back with good readings but still had my doubts and also wanted to change it for the learning factor.  Anyway no good. No spark and the new cdi is two weeks away.  So I remember watching a video on YouTube about putting the cdi on the oven on 250 degrees for ten min! Somehow draws the moisture out if any! I tried this today and to my surprise the darn thing came right back to life.

So anyway just curious on the input on this. Would you change the box ? I resealed it with silicone? It's still working great and the bike is performing very well.

    Just curious on everyone's input.

    Thanks.
