  1. I have seen this modification done on several quads. The marine grade battery is more tolerant of being drained low (heavy winch usage) and the charging system can recharge the battery, slower then a vehicle alternator, but it will do it. The cost is not that much different to put this battery on verses replacing the original. Wiring on this quad is not that complicated, even if its been hacked up, it can be repaired. Mike
  2. This is what I have on the gravity railroad. Planes 10 and 11 are within Lost Trails property, the rest is not. I have given tours of the gravity planes with a group of hikers who also like to photograph abandoned railroads, Plane 9 is a short walk from the property boundary. https://www.nepaview.com/pcc-gravity-railroad.html
  3. The shackle was part of the cabling system that hoisted the cars up the incline plane. There is a series of historical pictures I had permission to post on my website, but all of the pictures are from after they converted to T-rail. Lost trail is only one of very few places where I can use my quad for exploring (which is handy to carry extra gear) I bought the drone a few months ago to help in abandoned railroad exploring, being able to photograph areas I cannot reach. Plus to have some fun. And yes, that is why my username is "mikeexplorer" 😁
  4. Lost Trails is practically my back yard so I know the area well. All my machines are good to go, in the spring is when I do the most maintenance work on them to get them ready for riding season. Some artifacts I found in the area I posted on my website here: https://www.nepaview.com/pcc-artifacts.html Last year, I donated two sections of strap rail to Steamtown National Historic Site for them to put on display. Mike
  5. Ill be going there in April sometime. I don't ride much in the winter since its ski season. My first planned ride there probably wouldn't be of interest to you since I will be going to do more exploring the riding. Last year I started mapping out the water works that brought water down from the lakes to the gravity plane steam engines. Some areas are grown in and cannot be walked or mapped. I plan to fly my drone over the areas taking pictures to fill in the missing areas I hope to make a map of the water line in comparison to the gravity planes. Later on I will be going there just to ride, once the growth comes back in which will make exploring impossible. Mike
  6. Nice video, winter here has been terrible. Ski slopes are not that good right now. The snow in the trees is from snowmaking, They only got a few hours in before it warmed up.
  7. Nice, no snow where I am, even the ski resorts are hurting with the warm weather & rain.
  8. How is it working out for you? I will be looking for a replacement plow in the near future. Mike
  9. Nice find and nice of you to help a friend out.
  10. First check the fan fuse to make sure its good. Your model is a liquid cooled so the sensor is mounted near the bottom of the radiator. Unplug it and with the key on, jump out the two pins on the wiring side and see if the fan comes on. If it does not, check to see if one pin has 12 volts to ground. Typically the fan is also a 2 pin plug, you can disconnect it and run 12 volts directly to the fan to check to make sure its good. There is also a diode in the circuit that prevents the fan from backfeeding into the wiring, this may have gone bad, on your model it shows it as an external part, on later models it was inside the wiring harness. 11. I have been using the Bighorn 2 tires for years and happy with how they perform. Mike
  12. Some stores open before black friday so it also spreads them out. Used to be all closed for Thanksgiving but now some stores don't close at all. Mike
  13. I mainly access the website from a desktop, not mobile, I have not seen any ads like that. I do use Malwarebytes, the free version. They do make a mobile app. Mike
  14. I use Corel Videostudio, years ago it used to be made by Ulead. Since I have had the software for years, upgrades have been cheaper. The video I posted of the drone from Snow Shoe was done with that program. The drone is my brother's, but I bought one now and plan to use it for some exploring and fun. Only flew it a few times to get used to it. Seems everytime I have days off from work the weather is no good for flying. Scored a good deal on the drone. Mike
  15. The only Black Friday shopping I did was I got an offer from Corel for an upgrade on my video editing software package which I bought and downloaded the upgrade. There are new motion and video effects that were 90% off normal price so I will be eager to try these out. On my work days now so Ill install in a few days and try it out Mike
  16. Two of my trailers use Loadstar tires and they work well. Mike
  17. Valves that are out of tolerance is another issue with backfiring. Usually the ATV is hard starting as well. Mike
  18. I had to do the seat on my old quad a few years back and found the material at a local craft store.
  19. Oh yeah ive seen from your posts your really into restoring machines. Probably make a few bucks from it too. I have only gone as far as doing most of my own maintenance work on our machines. Some things I do take it to the dealer for as I don't have a ton of tools and for the rare occasion of something I can't deal with I just let them fix it. I get good deals from him since I bought three machines from him and I buy most of my parts from him. Mike
  20. Gander is closing all stores. The one by me has a massive sale on. Mike
