  1. Your secondary resistance is good, when checking the primary make sure your meter is set on the lowest OHM setting. The coil I was referring too bad right out of the box has a primary resistance of .1 OK and a secondary 0f 2700, quite low.
  2. As the clutch wears it needs adjustment, turn counterclockwise until you feel resistance, then turn clockwise until you feel resistance, you might do this a couple of times to get the feel of it, then stop when you feel resistance toward increase, it should be adjusted.
  3. Good, you got it figured out , sometimes those switches can be troublesome.
  4. if you are jumping the solenoid and it is just barely turning over, that sounds like the starter or battery, because you are bypassing everything else, sending 12 volts directly to starter
  5. Primary coil resistance .18-.28 ohms, secondary resistance 6-9 K Ohms.
  6. I ended up getting it out with hammer and cold chisel it was not a bolt at all, it was a casting, same soft metal as the cases about 2 inch diameter, I know you yamaha guys are laughing at me now but this is my first Yamaha ATV, this is what I got out off the crankcase, ugly, the only good thing is no metal chunks. This is a 6 qt container, right now I have the crankcase filled with used mobil 1 5w20, just to give it some lubrication, that's what I had, it's been deprived for a while, im thinking about draining this out and filling with Marvel Mystery oil and letting it soak for a while, quite boring but maybe a little entertaining. Lower photo shows the color a little better.
  7. I get them both places, what has changed is a new square appears in the middle of the screen and locks you out completely until you watch the ad
  8. I am a big fan of doing everything for myself, I also have one of the harbour freight tire changers, and I have done it , but not very efficiently, I decided years ago that was a job I didn't enjoy and was best left to the guys with the right equipment, money well spent. IF you buy your tires from them they will mount them for free, lesson learned.
  9. Sorry to hear that! I have noticed more ads lately, but for me, its worth it in the long run for all the valuable information you receive, there are things you get from here that are not in the service manual.
  10. Feeling a little more secure about the wiring so I thought I would change the oil, been sitting a long time and milky looking not real bad but I didn't like the looks of it, one adventure after another with this thing, figured it would take 5 minutes and change the oil, 2 hrs later I haven't got the nut out yet, previous owner stripped the drain plug head off, probably used a 19 when it takes an 18, generally I get those off with a pipe wrench when stripped, but yamaha in their wisdom put this nut down in a hole so I can't get a pipe wrench on it, I had a set of nut extractors that I tried, didn't work. Any of you guys had this problem, ideas would be greatly appreciated.
  11. Just had another bad aftermarket coil out of the box, it wasn't completely bad but specs were not what they were supposed to be for my machine.
  12. Glad you got it back together.Dealing with wiring mess myself
  13. Yes thank you it does look like the right one.
  14. Iv been checking voltages and resistance throughout the harness, haven't found any real problems, everything seems to be getting to the CDI like it should. Have 12.1 volts going to the CDI red/white , good ground at the CDI black wire , pickup coil resistance 528 at cdi, ani kickback coil .1 at CDI, and continuity from coil to CDI orange wire, start stop switch works as it should. It may still be the coil it is a brand new aftermarket, the secondary readings of 275 seem low, may have to go OEM. Thank you for all the work you have put into helping me , I really appreciate your time.
  15. Looks very good , plastics are in nice shape, I really like the winch.
  16. Still no spark, Im not real happy with my new aftermarket coils resistance reading, primary .2 and secondary 277 with boot, manual said boot alone should be 10000
  17. I use copper, no particular reason that is just what I got, is silver better.
  18. Sorry to see this , I have always been afraid of breaking rings and never even thought of this happening, I never use a ring compressor either I have tried them and do better with fingers.
  19. Not so bad , no white powder.
  20. Somehow white got below photo last wire is white
  21. I didn't see one on the schematic im looking at either, also when I was looking up parts at Motorsport they showed both cutout and reverse relays the same there must have been quite a few different variations on the 2000 model. The wire colors for the motor controller are blue/white, green/white, brown, black, white
  22. I didn't know what it was, and looked on Yamahas OEM parts diagram, on one of the OEM parts buying sites, don't even remember which one, and that's what they called it.
  23. I just looked I did not see that relay highlighted as part of the starting circuit on the schematic, maybe in the ignition system schematic, ill check . Thank you!
  24. Good choice I have a 4 wheel that I am using now to haul stuff around with mine I really like it
  25. That should make a nice small trailer and its long enough it should be easy to back up, the last one I bought was so short you had trouble backing it up ,that would be an interesting project, 2 wheel or 4 wheel.
