  1. I snipped the wire going to the kill switch and right now it revs and is doing pretty good. Before I bought the machine, we had to unplug that black. We got spark 1 time and then nothing with black wire hooked up. I hooked it back later after operating kill switch a bunch of times and it then worked. I'm not positive, that was the problem I may still have a little moisture somewhere. I saw a new pull rope and handle I'm going to order and put on. I'll give it a go on the valves also, I'm sure they were probably never adjusted. I'm running it alot today just in case there is moisture still. I sure appreciate all of the help fellas! ๐Ÿ‘
  2. Also forgot to mention, when putting air pilot screw back in I adjusted it for 2 turns backed out per service manual.
  3. I got the jet out you mentioned. I sprayed all jets and everything out with carb cleanen then blew it all out with air compressor. I sure do appreciate all of your help! ๐Ÿ‘ It's new development. But it does sound noisier at the valve cover area.
  4. I 've heard a bad cam can cause this problem and common for this machine? It just seems odd for the carb and cam to mess up at the same time?
  5. I added more fresh gas it sat one day now, it's acting up again. Before cleaning out carburetor it wouldn't idle good and had gas leaks from carburetor. Now it idles pretty good but, if I increase throttle speed at a certain amount it starts missing bad. I'm going to try and post a short video. Just about ready to give up on this thing.๐Ÿ˜’ you can see reflection perking in video. 20240217_114429.mp4
  6. I got it going today started right up. There was a little faint puffing out exaust for a while. I added another 1.5 gallon 93 octane instead of the 87 octane. So far it holds its idle with no surging or gas leaks. There's a sort of petcock mounted to the frame. Funny thing about it is, there's nothing on the back side of it. ๐Ÿ˜‚ All this time I thought I was shutting off the fuel when not riding it lol! Somehow the gear shift got moved into reverse. When started it wound up pushing me backwards about 20 feet before I could shut it off. Someone must have messed with it while I was in the house. ๐Ÿค”I sure thank you guys for all of your help! ๐Ÿ™‚
  7. I'll probably use a little of the engine oil for the Scrambler. ๐Ÿ™‚
  8. I've heard some people soak the filter covers in oil then squeeze them out and put back over the filter. Does that sound right?
  9. I didn't really see anything that stuck out but there was some tiny debris. I'm hoping cleaning everything out will cure my problems. I'm going to put just enough back together to start and run. If it's still flooding, the only other thing to try is checking the float level. I got a new float needle when I put carb kit in. I already ordered a cheap filter I guess I can put it back for a spare
  10. Well I got the carb off all cleaned out and put back on. I ordered a new air filter. I think the one that was in the air box must have came on the machine it's horrible looking. The air box is filthy, so I've got to clean it all up before putting back in. Here's what they look like. ๐Ÿ˜จ
  11. I've read that somewhere before but haven't actually tried it yet. It sounds like the valves may be making a clattering noise. It mostly makes that noise with misfires and engine surging up and down. Thanks GW! ๐Ÿ‘
  12. It may not be leaking bad when I'm actually riding. I just noticed the smell of gas when idle increased when sitting still. Hopefully I get it straightened out. This happened right after I got right front wheel drive going lol!
  13. I believe you're right, I've got to pay more attention. I guess I can blame it on old age! ๐Ÿ˜…
  14. That some good info, I'll take it off in the morning and get started on it. It hasn't been that long since the kit was put in. Maybe everything will come apart pretty easily. I'll keep my fingers crossed LOL! Thanks Again Mech! ๐Ÿ‘
  15. Hello folks, my machine wound up with I think water in the tank etc. It runs but speeds up and slows back down randomly. When not running I don't see gas dripping from the drain nipple on bottom of float bowl and drain screw is closed tight. With normal idle speed I see no leaking. When the idle speed increases quite a bit on it's own, gas appears to start slowly dripping from float bowl drain nipple? I'm wondering if the carb is flooding and the gas is actually coming from higher up and just appears, to be coming out of nipple but, is actually running down the sides of the nipple? I put a kit in the factory Mikuni carb last year after sitting for a while and I think the gas in the jug I used had drawn moisture. I plan to pull the carb tomorrow and clean everything out. I was just curious if anyone else thinks it's probably something in the carb and is, acutally a flooding problem? Thanks Folks! ๐Ÿ™‚
  16. I think, if I'm going to take that cover off I'll order a new pull rope assembly and put it in while it's off. I'll save that info for when the new rope gets here. First unfortunately, I think I need to pull my carburetor. I'll start a new thread on that. Thanks Mech ๐Ÿ™‚
  17. I have a feeling the water got in the plastic gas jug sitting on my porch so long. The jug doesn't have a way to seal the poor spout. I'm going to get a new gas jug. I'll not make that mistake again! ๐Ÿ˜„
  18. Does the pull rope have to be on the machine to get top dead TDC? The rope was gone on this one when I got it. Or, can a plastic tool be used in spark plug hole to feel for TDC on compression stroke? Thanks for all info! ๐Ÿ™‚
  19. Yeah, we use to use the muriatic acid on brick after it was laid. It did a good job cleaning the brick and garage floors if needed. That was some time ago working in new home construction. I'm going to try and keep some of the denatured alcohol in my tank all the time and maybe it won't get that bad again. I'll look up the b 12 chemical and see if there is any locally. Thanks for the good info GW! ๐Ÿ™‚
  20. I didn't take the tank off and clean it out. I just unhooked the line from the fuel pump and drained the gas from tank and the float bowl on the carburetor. I'm going to definitely try using the alcohol if the Heet doesn't do the job. Thanks again Mech! ๐Ÿ™‚
  21. Ok, I'm going to check around and see if I can find any locally. How much of that would it take for a 3 gallon tank of gas?
  22. Huh, I never heard of that stuff I'll have to check into it Thanks! ๐Ÿ™‚
  23. Has anyone tried the K 100 fuel additives to remove water from fuel. I drained my tank plus float bowl on carb. They don't sell the K 100 products locally. I added some Iso Heet to some fresh gas. I don't know which, or maybe the combination of the two. But it is idling better and not surging up and down as bad as it was now. My guess is it will take a little time to totally smooth out. Thanks! ๐Ÿ™‚
