  1. Does anyone know if there are aftermarket rear racks for these models? I just need something where I can haul a rifle/ fishing rods and such. Won't be hauling anything heavy. Thanks!
  2. Looks like you'll be ready for a test ride soon!
  3. Yeah, haven't had a drink of any kind of alcohol in about 30 years. But, when I did drink I probably drank enough whisky for 3 people lol! Health got so bad my body rejected it. I may go with my grandson Sunday, to see if I can be of any assistance. He and his dad are going to take the carb off and go through it. His dad is my ex son-in-law who is the one I'm buying it from.
  4. I found out this is an 05 not 07 but, it was an honest mistake. Yes, I will for sure be cautious. I lost a 16 year old grandson about 5 years ago to a 4 wheeler accident. My daughter worries about me now since I've decided to start riding. Myself I plan to get a helmet just to be on the safe side.
  5. Yeah, he said he did a little racing with it. He said it would hit 71-72mph I said not with me on it lol! I think one of the photos has one of his dune buggies he built in the background. He started it up and boy, was it loud inside of his shop. I think I will get some new tires made more for trail.
  6. Yeah, I think this one might clean up pretty good and maybe put some new tires on it. I think putting anything on my other ride would just be like putting lipstick on a pig!
  7. Got some photos last. Having a flooding problem with carb so he's going to look into that Sunday. After sitting for 2 years I guess that could be expected. They put a new battery on it yesterday. Had to unplug wire from cdi to kill switch to get more than one spark from spark plug. Started up then but, is flooding. I plan to get an OEM rebuild kit for the carb later.
  8. I've decided to go for the Polaris, he is going to put a new carb and battery on it. I think, it's a decent deal for $1500.00 I'm supposed to see it and pay some money on it tomorrow I'll get some pictures also.
  9. Are these models pretty decent to get around in wooded terrain with there automatic transmission?
  10. Anyone used their compression testers with good results? I realize, they are not high quality tools just don't want to invest a lot into tools that won't be used a lot. Thanks!
  11. After tracing the reverse cable, the only part I need is the small reverse lever that the cable end slips into. I've got the nut for it I just have to find a reverse lever.
  12. Found this while searching not sure if it is legit but thought I would pass it on I might try it when I get the part I need. I found this mod on a other site so I cant take credit for it.... Anyone who has a 300ex knows getting the 300 into reverse is the biggest pain in the a$$. Put it in neautrel, push the button down, pull in the clutch, reach over and pull up the lever. When you push down the button and pull the clutch in that pulls the reverse selector arm counter clockwise and allows the ex to be able to be put in reverse. So the mod is.... Remove the cable from the reverse selector arm. Put a small chain in the reverse selector arm. Pull the reverse selector arm counter clockwise and attach the other end of the chain to the frame. Thats the mod!!! If the reverse selector arm is chained back and you want to put the ex in reverse all that has to be done is.... Put the ex in neautrel and pull up on the reverse lever!!!! :icon_ lala:
  13. pretty sure this is the part I lost. LEVER RVS.STOPPER for TRX300EX FOURTRAX 300EX 1993 (P) USA - order at CMSNL
  14. This is the part I'm hoping, I installed back inside the crank cover on right side correctly. I traced the reverse cable to the handlebar and it is hooked up. I should have hooked it back to the cable shaft and I wouldn't have lost the part. I guess I'll have to try to order the end piece that the cable ball slides into. Confused yet? I sure am LOL! 2000 Honda TRX300EX Oem Genuine Reverse Cork Line Cable Shift Shaft With Spring | eBay
  15. No I sure don't T #8 cable connects to a small lever through the cover. One of my concerns is I hope that lever was in the correct position when I put that cover back on so the reverse will even work or if there is only one way that it will go back on? I need to see where the other end of the cable is on top because it isn't going to the handle bar. What a mess and I really do need the reverse working.
  16. Here is the left handle bar and the other, shows the questioned cable running down below the exhaust on the right side case cover. The last shows some wire wrapped around a lever on side of caliper which I figured is for parking brake. I guess, they did that since the cable is missing. Thanks! Also, I can't even get a wrench on the bleeding nipple with the hose in the way?
  17. The cable was missing when I bought this atv. I'm not sure exactly, what all is missing to use the reverse. There is a small lever that has a notch for a cable and a red button on the left handlebar. Also, there is a linkage on the right side engine cover which has a cable slot also. I'm hoping, when I put that cover back on, the cable lever was in the correct position. Any info on what all is required to get the reverse going on this would be greatly appreciated!
  18. If you're talking about bridging the two posts with the nuts on them, all that does is bypass the solenoid. If you can push a wire or multimeter probe into solenoid connector where the brown wire is then touch other end of probe or wire to battery positive, it should crank if, the solenoid is good. I'm just assuming, the brown wire is indeed the hot wire.
  19. I thought that connector looked odd. I know my starter relay just has the bullet plug connectors.
  20. Have you tried unplugging the positive wire from the solenoid connector and then tried touching it to the positive battery terminal to make sure the starter turns over the engine? That will determine whether or not the primary and secondary circuits are good in the relay. It can click and still, not be any good. I would unplug solenoid wires and check for proper voltage as GW said if touching solenoid + wire to battery causes the engine to turn over. I use piercing probes with my meters a lot which can make pretty quick tests on wires sometimes. Good luck! You can check solenoid primary ground connection straight to battery also.
  21. Mission Automotive 16oz Brake Bleeding Kit - Easy Use One Person Brake Fluid Bleeder with Magnet Mount and Hanging Lanyard - for Car and Motorcycles Brake Systems 16oz Fluid Capacity https://a.co/d/7PiqBqV would something like this be useful?
  22. I tried that and nothing came out the bleeder nipple and the reservoir so, I assume the mastercylinder is not pumping the fluid. reservoir stayed full
  23. Now, to find some sand LOL! I wondered if that was possible for the seals to maybe soften up some and seal better with use at least I hope so. Thanks!
  24. This trx300ex was smoking at start up but, then quit after a couple minutes. I was starting every day. I went almost a week without starting and then today I started it and it never smoked a bit. Anyone know what's up here? Has plenty of oil.
