  1. I usually trail ride with my family... I was following my husband when he hit a dip in the trail and got air! I slowed down when I saw that, but ended up getting a little air myself... I'm really not ready to do that ON PURPOSE yet, I am still getting used to turns and climbing/descending. Maybe in a few more rides?
  2. Hi, I'm new too, both to riding and this forum. I ride a 250 Arctic Cat, it's my 1st quad. Welcome to this forum!
  3. He got shifting down pretty well! he followed my husband around on the trails, and when my husband shifted up or down he held out the number of fingers for what gear my son should be in to remind him. Next time we have to work on him shifting without looking down, lol ~ I guess he hasn't figured out his foot works without watching it! I'd love to make the Pismo trip, just don't know if we can get off work to go...
  4. MWKE, That isn't very NICE! I think you may get more responses from that than anything else!
  5. I think this is great! So much of it is right on.... Why isn't SHE RIDES a main topic area rather than an off-shoot under "Where to ride"?
  6. GOOD LUCK!
  7. ok, I managed to get a few more shots out of the video for you to see, they are in my gallery.
  8. Whooo Hoooo!
  9. Thanks everyone for being interested... I posted the pic of his face when he realized the new quad was for him....It took a few minutes for it to sink in! LOL He did really well, but dad did have to adjust the shift lever up a bit since his foot was too small to reach it! We also limited the throttle down so he wouldn't get too carried away. They built a mini track next to camp, and my 3.5 year old even did a few laps on the 50. My camera acted up, so I have to wait to get more pics off the video camera~ I'll post them when I do!
  10. Where was it so someone could do that? mean people suck....
  11. Thanks for the tip, we're going out this weekend, so we'll see how it goes!
  12. I just got this 80 cc Raptor for my son, I hope he can handle it! (he's 8) He's never had to shift before, any tips on teaching him? We are going out this weekend and he doesn't know this is for him yet! There is a picture of it in my gallery, I don't know how to add it to my post.
  13. I don't know about any "resort", but there is a "track" you can pay to get into near there, or we just like to go out in the desert and camp- lots of open flat space for beginners and kids, with some hills for a bigger challenge and homeade "mini tracks" and jumps and whoops to explore and find... It can be crazy busy in some areas, and completely deserted in others- depends on when and what you like...
  14. I rode a Yamaha 80 a few times, but it wasn't fun, too many things to remember! (it was my 1st time on anything I had to shift gears on that wasn't a car) so I'm sticking with 4 wheels now...
  15. LOL I don't know if we can take off then, we are trying to go to California City over Lincoln's B-day if the work schedule will allow!
  16. I hear you, Scott! my son is 8 and almost too tall to ride the 50 cc Kawasaki he has been on for about 4 years now comforatably...seems like it is as dangerous to have too much kid on too little bike, on hills especially! we will be looking for a 90 soon for him~ at least we don't ride in "parks" very often where age/size restrictions are enforced.
  17. I think it stinks too, my son is 8 and has been riding a few years now, my 3.5 year old is ready to start riding soon, they would both be very disappointed if they couldn't go out with us. We'd probably sell our quads, what fun is it to have them if the whole family can't ride together?
  18. How exciting! I think my son would enjoy something like this if there were venues for it near us... Hope you can get some better pics at the next races!
  19. Well it is similar enough to me that I thought the sites were related, that's what got me to stop and look around;)
  20. I think it looks a bit like Car Crazy Central's logo, I don't know which came 1st, but the colors and lettering is almost identical....
  21. www.myspace.com/justgsds4me Here's mine
  22. Hi everyone, I'm new here... also new to riding quads. My husband and kids also ride! (well, my 3 year old ALMOST rides! ) My son is 8 years old, and almost too big for his 50 cc Kawasaki quad. My husband rides a Suzuki, I think it is a 400. I just got a 250 Arctic Cat 2wd to start with. We love to camp out, during the summer we ride lake toys (Yamaha Waverunner III 's) and in the cooler weather we ride in the dessert. I had an off-road electric golf cart (literally) that was great when my baby was small, we could follow the boys on little trips. (or put-put around camp) but now we are ready for something faster! I'm Looking forward to meeting other riders and reading pointers for where to go ride and how tos!
  23. They broke into my truck and took the garage door opener... let themselves in! Someone stole an old IT 200 dirtbike out of the trailer in front of our house a few months before that... funny thing is it didn't even run! That's why it was on the trailer, going into the shop the next morning... I think it was probably the same thief looking for the rest of our toys... So now my garage and house are alarmed, and the trucks too.... no more garage door openers in the car, they are keychain remotes that stay with the house keys, inside! Sorry that got so long, just had to vent a bit...
  24. all my gear is Fox now, helmet, pants, jersey, gloves, jacket ...but I think my boots are ONeal. I used to have ALL Answer gear, but someone stole our riding gear outta the garage (Took the whole gearbags!)
