  1. 2011 Grizz 700 here and so far the only thing I've been told about replacing my coolant is that I should put the same color stuff back in that came out. But other than that nothing specific. A search through both the service or owner's manual gave no coolant info other than capacity. Here's a comparison of the old and the proposed new... The stuff on the left, what's coming out, is a blue-green. I'm second owner and only put about 75 miles on the machine, so I have no idea how old this coolant is. Stuff on the right is the new coolant the guy at the car shop suggested, and is more of a pure lighter translucent blue. It's Pentofrost NF, whatever that is. He said it's what's recommended for European, including BMWs. Here's the bottle... So... 1) have I found the right coolant? and 2) does this stuff need to be diluted? The bottle says it's 'full strength.'
  2. Hello! I am new here and I need some help from the experts. My 9 year old son was given an adult sized 4 wheeler for Christmas. He has never ride one and has never taken a training course. Of course, I just found out about this but was never consulted about him getting this, either. Anyways, he was able to ride it this morning and has never had any safety training and honestly, I am petrified he is going to get hurt. It will happen, it's just when. I am in the state of Indiana and the law states you must be 14 years old to operate unless there is direct supervision of an 18 year old or other. What exactly does "direct supervision " mean? Is rhis within site of the person riding or is it someone that is ON the ATV? Also if there are ANY SUGGESTIONS you guys can give me regarding this it would be helpful. My son is only 9 and a very immature 9 year old at that. I feel he has no business being on this without proper training but apparently that isn't as important to some people. Also, if there is anyone in the state of Indiana on here that can tell me the rules that would be awesome. *in addition* the 4 wheeler is for an adult. My son is only 4 foot 9 and 65 pounda. He's tiny. I am afraid he is certainly nowhere close to having the weight to control this machine.
  3. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- i have a 95 bayou 220 not sparking. i have measured all of the connectors on the cdi and most are within the manuals ranges. but there are a couple that measured alot higher than their given ranges. does this indicate the cdi is bad ?
  4. 1995 Bayou 220. If i have ruled out the ignition coil where should i go from there?
  5. Im looking at 2004 Foreman 500 with transmission problems. It has been used at a junkyard to push cars around. One day something popped and it stopped moving. Ideas/suggestions as to what may be wrong and the cost?
  6. Lots of tire brands out there I'm not familiar with for ATVs Are there some generic brands that are just crap I should avoid. I Plan on trail riding mainly. Very little dune use. Occasional mud. I Like cheap but like anything you get what you pay for.
  7. I'm considering buying a 2000 Arctic Cat 400 4x4. The dealer I'm purchasing from just got it in on a trade in. The ATV has 4,100 miles on it. The body is in great shape for being 11 years old. The seat is good and the tires are about 50%. The dealer won't budge from $2,500 and I think I'm getting screwed. The KBB is $1,800 for retail. What are your thoughts good or bad deal?
  8. My atv is a small one and i have ridden it too hard it now does not accelerate properly and when i reach a decent speed the engine cuts out any ideas as to whats wrong
  9. Well, as follow is my conclusion on the two helmet (atv) cameras I got for my ATV rides: (check out my original post below) ** The Adrenaline Systems ATV Cam Sport I action camera came as a complete kit (except you have to provide your own recording device). The camera is a 580 TVL Sony HAD ExView CCD camera. It comes with an extreme military grade microphone with a windsock (windguard) which works great when you get up to speed. It comes with 3 mounting devices. Two for your ATV itself and one Helmet Mount which allows you to mount the camera anywhere on your helmet. Connecting the camera, microphone and power source together is pretty easy. There is plenty of cable slack to allow for very comfortable camera placement. I connected the entire set up to my Sony camcorder. You can also connect it to a DVR but currently this is on my wish list. The mounts are not typical of any helmet camera set up. You can mount the cam on your handlebar using the handlebar mount which bolts on super tight and will survive a crash. What I liked the most is that you can place and remove the camera easely with no hassle and there is no need to remove the whole mount. There are two additional mounts. One you place on you helmet. This mounting is great as anything you look at is captured. The other is a neat and lightweight mount called the Fender mount which can lay your camera flat on the fenders or any other flat surface. I used all 3 mounts with my camcorder either in my backpack or on the gas tank (in my homemade tank pack). The video I picked up is excellent. I was able to capture some great angles both behind and in front of my ATV. My edits captured action which I only see in pro features. I must say I was surprised. There is no comparison with the limited angles I was able to capture with my camcorder alone. Also, it allows me to capture more radical footage as I am not afraid to damage my expensive camcorder. It now sits safely tucked away. ** The Oregon Scientific ATC2K Helmet Camera is completely self contained unit which comes with on board recording via an SD card. It is easy to use and mount, though it does not come with atv specific mounts. For this I had to adapt some clamps to hold it on my handlebar. Mounted on my helmet felt ok and was realtively easy to complete the whole mounting procedure. Functionality is good with no real hickups during use. The buttons are easy to set and recording is easy as well. As I had read in reviews, once I downloaded the video files to my computer, the quality was not good at all nor was the sound. It looks more like video you would want to use on video sharing sites but nothing of any decent quality. Moreover the recording length is limited by your SD card. For the price this helmet camera is ok as a hobby camera. In conclusion I will have to say the Adrenaline Systems ATV Cam produces super performance and quality with the most flexibility and pricing is reasonable when you compare to other systems out there which can get pretty prices. The Oregon scientific is great as a hobby cam but nothing more. For a few more dollars you can get what the documentary makers are using. I got the adrenaline systems kit at the Adrenaline Camera website (AdrenalineCamera * com) and the Oregon Scientific at their corporate sales site. Please PM if you have any input and thanks for your suggestions! ================================================= [/img] [/img] I finally got around to getting an action camera for my off road riding. I purchased two of them so that I can try them out and figure out which would be the best. I would like to ask for some advice on how best to test these cameras out? what should I keep in mind? any good ideas out there? The two systems I got for testing are The Adrenaline Systems ATV Camera which I read on the boards has some great features. I also got the Oregon Scientific sd cam. The adrenaline systems atv cam comes with the full set up, including a real neat microphone which allows me to put the mike anywhere I want. The mounts look very well made. They are very sturdy. I already ran into some brush and the mount did not move an inch or get damaged. Also, the camera was very easy to hook up to my camcorder. The oregon scientifc is next. I will post my results as soon as I can. Any feedback will be appreciated on these sports cameras.
  10. Right on , glad to have found this . My wife and i are lookin into new stuff to do.We are both pretty fit, We both hike rockclimb go mountain climbing all kinds of crazy out door stuff. im getting on up there , 43 and my fingers arent as strong as they used to be , plus after 23 years of rock climbing im kinda getting bored with it. This place , Chattanooga Tennessee is supposed to be awesome for ATVing , i actually live in suck creek. Any given week end i see many many atv folks going past my place up into prentice cooper to ride. So my questions to get started, we are wondering is it farily fun for two people to ride on one atv. Or should we get two ? There are alot of minor stream crossings around here, the best ride being coppinger cove. What size atv will i need for four feet deep of water ? We can ride it when water level is low so no biggie there. What should i go for ? I figure start we start with one and then if we really get into it i could buy another one. I dont want to spend much over 3k on our first one. Any and all reccomendations and or advice greatly appreciated. Dark Just looking to have fun with the wife out doors.
