Quadmaster 500 running problems

i would do like quadnut20 said an put a filter in the fuel line if ya dont have 1 alerady .. and then check to make shure the bowl is clean in the carb ... then if thats not the prob. then go from there and check to make shure its getting good fire at the plug after warm up an when it starts running funny ... you should just go through a few things like that to make shure ware the prob. is ...

i would start with the carb an make shure its all clean then if thast not it check the plug for good fire an make shure its clean.. then check for constant power from the stator ... then if thats not it check the coil... then if thats not it i would check the wireing from the stator all the way through the ignition to the coil ... ..

i used to own a 2000 quad master 500. did u put an aftermarket carb on or a direct oem replacement. i had the same problems and what it ended up being was the aftermarket carbs fuel system was not factory configured properly. so i put on the oem carb and set the fuel properly. i would have to say that if you put on the oem carb then you do not have the carb set properly. The quadmaster 500 is the most sensitive carb i have ever played with. And as for the inline filter? do not put one on. it does adversely affect the operation of the quadmaster as i tried that too. the only other thing would be that you have an intake air leak.

it is a little bit of common sense and easy knowledge if you are a mechanic. if you have 2 filters in line it restricts the flow twice as much. that is how a filter works is through partial restiction with the filter element. so what kind of shop do you have? I hope it is not backyard! By the way I am a journyman automotive and motorcylce mechanic and am just finishing up for my marine mechanics. They teach you not to double filter unless you up your fuel pressure!

Inline fuel filters have alot.of surface area. I havent seen many filters that restrict flow that arent clogged

I am not a motorcycle mechanic nor have I been to any motorcycle type school. I am the owner of a heavy equipment repair business so I do repair alot of generators. Most of the generators are tapped into the fuel tank of the truck itself and they run a screen and an inline. Most are now EFI but i see my fair share of carb generators(mostly ONAN or Robyns) My two cents. Again maybe its different with atvs and i have no experience with suzuki.

well i think you might read up on your gravity flow fuel systems and and go from there! i have about 10 years ecperence as an auto mechanic (certified 2 years of school ) and over the year i desided to go back to school another (4 years motor cycle masters degree) an curently have over 7 years in that feild (experence) fuel flows alot faster with a gravity system that aparently you know about or know of .. it will flow just fine through an inline filter with the fuel screens in the tank the filter you should use inline should be 1 with a screen filter element in it and not paper ... most good name brand inline filters are the screen type.. not the paper ones that will restrict the flow ... like automotive filters... and that being said .. im not going to argue with any one that does not understand the graviety fuel system on an atv or motorcycle ... good luck on the quadmaster... and im sorry about hijacking your post and there should be another person saying they are sorry to you about hijacking your post to start an arguement with another member ... thanks an again sorry ...CK1999_400ex

      This is something I'm extremely curious about. Has anyone ever attempted to buy a quad (or any other vehicle) from an impound lot? I've always wondered if this could be a bargain, or a waste of time. Google searches do turn up some helpful results. Looks like the state of NJ holds auctions online which I'd be a bit hesitant about.
       
      My online searches haven't really turned up any results of anyone buying an ATV this way. I'd be really curious if anyone tried this, or knows someone who has. I've actually found a couple pages with online auctions for my state, but none had ATVs.

      The studs in the sprocket hub are stripped out. The hub is probably walloed out also. Probably will have to have a new sprocket hub. I doubt I have the ability nor the tools needed for this job. Thanks for all suggestions/opinions!

      I am in the process of puting it back together after replacing the DPS gearbox.
      The manual I have states that it will need to be flashed by a dealer. Is this still true?
      Also , I have a mystery bolt That I cannot remember where it goes. M6x 70 or so.  Hex head with a flat washer.I will try to attach a pic.

      Hey all, from SW Virginia here. I just picked up a '01 Bombardier Quest 650 on the cheap (seller couldn't get it to start). After correctly plumbing the fuel pump (new pump the prior owner installed but had the hoses going backwards lol) and cleaning the carb and fuel tank, repaired all the batt - and batt+ connections she lives!!  I had swore to the wife unit I wouldn't be dragging another "project" home but I couldn't pass it up, it had new tires, new starter, new fuel pump and low hrs. All's good after she took it for a ride! 😆 It rides like a tank, very stable and tons of power.
