My vote goes to the Genius charger brand. Prior to these I preferred the CTEK chargers however they are more expensive. The genius chargers have the ability to run a desulfurization cycle and they can force feed the battery to attempt to get a charge into a overly depleted battery. If you want full adjustability the the best I know of is a Junsi X8 however this requires buying a separate power supply and is more effort then most will likely want to put forward, once acquired however you can charge at any rate you prefer and set cut off voltages as well as monitoring and tracking charge cycles and charging most all types of batteries including lithium.

You can force start using the CTEK chargers as well. The smaller units has a hidden mode that you activate by

1. unplugging the charger for some seconds

2. Push the mode button while powering the charger

3 Wait for a second or so

3. Release the mode button for some seconds

4. Press the mode button for half a second

All of hte LEDs should start flashing one at a time and you will have 14.4V

On the larger units you will have this function activated in a proper way...

But you cal also start the charger by connecting it too an empty battery and attching a 9V battery for a second or so.

On my Kodiak I use the Battery Tender brand with great results. I’m going to get a solar attachment to see it that works just as well as the plug in that I have.

I use a CTEK D250 and a solar panel for my boat (electric trolling motor...) Works great. The problem is that the charger uses a small ammount of energy. TAhat means that if the solar panel is to small there will be no charging at all, all the energy will be lost in the charger... Seen that happen on older D250s but this may be fixed now. So before trying to charge on a small solar panel, make sure that the system works as intended....

I started off using HF but didn’t have very good luck with them.  The transformers would burn up.  I now have been using BatteryMinder Plus for a few years with good results.  Buy them when there on sale through Amazon.  They get pretty dang $$high sometimes.

I use this Diehard 2A charger/maintainer. Has worked well on all size batteries including my camper deep cells. It comes with a small post battery pigtail that you hook to your battery permanently and has a quick connect w/dust cap that you stash under your seat until your ready to take 2 seconds and plug it in. My buddy hangs his out the side of his seat so he doesn't even have to take the seat off although his dust cap is gone, twice now, because of this choice.

Hi guys, I have a 2004 big bear 400. Last winter while plowing the driveway, I heard a loud pop from the left side of the engine. It continued to run as I looked for leaky fluid, but then died shortly after backing it up and won’t start now. The oil light comes on when I try to start it, no noise or anything else.
No blown fuses that I can find.

Hi all.  New to the forum & quads.  Seems like a great place full of info.
I just recently picked up a 2005 Suzuki KingQuad LTA700.  I need a battery.  I've been reading up on conventional vs AGM types.  I have a Royal Distributing and Canadian Tire.  RD has 2 types avail for my year/Model a battery YTX16-BS CRANK $75, and BATTERY YTX20CH-BS YUASA $140.  Neither of these is the type from the manual FTZ16-BS.
from what I can tell... I think the only difference is the capacity with the $75 unit rated at 14 AH/10HR and the $140 unit rated at 18 AH/10HR ... which is the rating in the manual for the FTZ16-BS.  How much does this make a difference for nearly x2 the cost?
And about the models/type numbers.... what is important to know ... they all end in "-BS" but are the other details relevant or just manufacturer naming?
