Just bought 06 KingQuad 700 and first ride out hit a mud hole, not to deep and it shut off and would not start.
Got it home and found the spark plug hole was full of mud and water. Went and bout a new spark plug and began cleaning it out. Put a deep socket in there and it wouldn’t grab. Took a pic with my flash and this is what I see. Any suggestions? And what is it??

previous owner said it had a new coil so that’s why I decided to change out the spark plug, also ordered new coil should be here by the weekend.

Ahhhh ok i see it now.  So im assuming that the previous spark plug cap/boot had a big flat rubber washer on it that would have prevented water from getting inside.  My guess is the new coil did not have that boot I mentioned.
Can you post a pic of that?
If the spark plug is stripped and you cant get  it out then worst case is you pull the cylinder head off and work it out from the underside of the head. Maybe spray penetrating oil in the head/spark plug hole and let it sit for a day and try to get a smaller socket on there.  They also sell a socket that adapts to any size nut. Maybe try that?

@Frank Angerano Thank you yes the boot goes in but does not completely fill gaps around the sides so that’s why I was assuming that is some kind of silicone. I’m just trying to figure out What’s going on with the bottom of the cylinder head where the spark plug screws in. I cannot get any socket to grip on to the spark plug but you didn’t make a good point about just pulling the cylinder head off worst case I will try that.

That looks like the rubber bushing that should have been inside the plug boot just came off and stayed on the plug.  Can you get to it with a pick and try to bury it in the rubber and pull it back out?  My spark plug sockets always do that so I have a few without the rubber bushing in them from that very scenario.

I did or didn't make a good point ? Pull the head off, not the cylinder jug.  You have a lot more options getting that plug out with the head off. Either way make sure you spray the plug a day before.
But i would spray and try the socket i sent first.

looks to me likie theres just super hard packed mud in the hole.  you cant even see the hex on the spark plug, much less get a hold of it with a socket.  i would try scraping on that black stuff with a precision screwdriver and see if it doesnt loosen up

Jacob was right. I just finished up scraping out mud probably for 2006. Spark plug has never been changed. New plug, new coil will be here Thursday. Also checked the tps and found _C00 google is my friend and told me it needs to be -C00 and 2 screws loosened and adjusted its now at -C00 so I’m pretty confident I got it! Thanks for everyone’s help and fast responses. Sent the same question to a Suzuki forum and got 1 reply

SO THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE!!!

That's awesome! @JacobSlabach is a smart member!!!!!

Did you vacuum out the dirt before you pulled the plug ?

There are a lot of members here that will always answer and do there best as quick as possible.  Thats why as much as one would go to a specific brand forum, Quadcrazy members have all different brands and a ton of knowledge.

Good luck brother and ride safe.

      1989 Moto 4 YFM350ERW intermittent spark.
Quad has set for about 7 years and was running when parked.  When I replaced the battery and attempted to start it had no spark.

What I have done.  Followed troubleshooting in the manual.
      1.       Coil failed the resistance check so I replaced it.  Still no spark.
      2.       I performed resistance checks on the stator and they all pass.
      3.       Found a bad rear brake stop switch and unplugged it and connected the wires in order to disable.  Now I have intermittent spark.  I believe that the issue is with either the stator or CDI and not sure which.
1989 seems to be a transition year for electrical.  I can get new aftermarket CDI units for 87-88 and 90-94.  I cannot get ones for a 89.  I can get new stators for 87-89 and 90-95.  Looking at the schematics the wiring on my moto is closer to the 90 ones on the ATV side of the CDI and closer to the 87-88 on the stator side of the CDI.  Looking at part supply sources the stator housing is the same part # for all the years and looking at some of the stators on Amazon that have the dimensions on them both of the stators are the same size.
What I am thinking of doing is to replace the stator and CDI with a 90-95 one as these parts are all readily available.   Does anyone know if this has been tried before and if there are any issues with doing this.
As a side note I also have a 1993 Moto 4 YFM350ER that has been sitting longer but it is located about 400 miles from me at this time.  By doing this change in addition to being able to get parts I will also have 2 ATV’s that are the same electrically.

Hi, I have been around everything with a motor since I was little, and finally purchased more to get my husband, and kids involved. I have 4 quads I will be searching around for information on. I have two 2002 Suzuki LT80K quads, a 1997 Yamaha Timberwolf 250, and a 1996 Kawasaki Bayou 220. I have had different ones throughout the years, and plan on buying another Yamaha Banshee. I plan on trying to learn more about all of them, so I can customize some of them. I know nothing about them besides how to race them, my dad always took care of the rest, but figured it was time for me to learn.

      Hello All
I'm kinda new to ATVs. I just bought a 1987 Suzuki quad runner 230 Dual Range. I'm having a problem finding info on it. It's very clean, only 2.800 miles. The front wheels are only 30 in.center to center. I was thinking about adding wheel spacers to give it more stability. I realize the added stress on ball joints and bearings. I'm wondering if there are any other concerns? Any input is greatly appreciated!

So I decided to pick up a small trailer if I could get one for the right price.  I found this one for a few hundred bucks on Craig’s list.  It is  a galvanized trailer which is exactly what I was looking for. The wood was shot and needed some minor repairs which I could care less about as long as the chassis was good.
I striped it down and put a new deck on. I had some vinyl realtree graphics that I had laying around so I added them to the fenders which I think worked out well. Very happy with this little guy.
I'm having the iron workers at my jobmake me up a few lightweight side rails that will have a 22 degree bend in them to accommodate the tires that slightly hang over the edge and will incorporate some tie down points as well.
