Grandson got a couple China made ATVs

Recommended Posts

Grandson got a couple China made ATVs, lucky me, been a while since my motorcycle days, but I’ve mechanic and body worked all my life. Got an issue with the 110 cc one that’s got me scratching my bald head. Replaced carb, adjusted and checked all I see that can be done and it still Boggs out in forward gear , but will spin the tires in reverse and not bogg at all. What am I missing hear ? Anybody got any ideas on what to try next? Please let me know, I’m sure that the best thing to do would be to get rid of the the things and buy a real Atv, unfortunately the grandkids can’t afford it and Grandpa is supposed to be able to fix anything don’t acknowledge. Help needed!

Well let’s see if we can help here. 😁

When you say it bogs down is it slipping or is the engine dying out? Almost sounds to me like going forward it’s not geared low enough. Is it automatic or semi/auto/shift? Is there a drive belt?

FYI ... I moved your status post into the forum as a new topic so more would see it.

It’s a belt drive variable auto clutch type, but it revs quickly in neutral and seems good in reverse, but when you are in forward gear it just seems to bogg and lag , you can slowly get the speed up to what seems to be about half and then Boggs out after that and if you stay on the throttle after it starts bogging it will quit running

i had a 110cc chinese 4w and it had a limiter in the ecu where if i gave it full throttle in the forward gear it would bog and die, i think youre running into the same issue.. they are very annoying because it keeps the atv from popping wheelies but also keeps it from having max power for hills and whatnot.

youre also probably experiencing bogging from the carburetor like @davefrombc said, these chinese atv's weak point is the carburetor and theyre very hard to tune just right so that itll actually run strong

      Hey I have a 1997 big bear 350 4x4
I replaced the shifter shaft and the shift arm linkage and the rod when I installed them all I was unaware that you had to line the dot on the shifter shaft with the gap on the linkage arm gap put it all back  together and rode it I can't get it to shift in the right gears  I can move the shift cam by hand and goes in different gears but with the shifter shaft in it riding I can't put it in R or N
Anyone know how to line up the shifter shaft and the shift cam s

      Hi Guys!

New member and could really use your advice. I would have to believe this has been an issue for others but a search here came up with nothing......? (Probably me not doing search correctly)

      I have an 87 Big Bear 350 YFM350FWT
The OEM Mikuni BTM carb is shot and would rather replace than rebuild.
It is no longer made and I have had good luck with NICHE carbs so I ordered a #K-CRB-0006 This was what they said was replacement when ordered. This Carb only uses 1 Throttle cable. The Slide is linked so it uses one. (OEM had 2nd cable coming through top to move slide)

Problem is when I ordered a replacement Cable from NICHE (#C-CBL-0061) the Cable wire is a little short, not allowing Throttle to return all the way down to Idle position. I called NICHE and they are at a loss. Haven't gotten back to me after 2+ weeks.

What would you recommend other than a carb rebuild?
Can I just use 1 of the OEM cables (It is the right length) and snip/disconnect the other that went to top of Carb for Slide?
      Or ??

Thanks in advance for any advice you have!!

      Dave

If you had to choose one mod that you couldn't live without, or had to recommend one what would it be?

Hey all back again with my 1989 moto 4 250.
After putting a new carb on it it's really sputtery, it has new gas and I'm wondering what to tune on the carb to make it idle better. I've attached a video to describe the issue more. The bike is still work in progress but I think the video gets the point across. Thanks!
