Hello,

I am restoring a bayou 220 here in Brazil, I have a question regarding the rear brake activated by the lever on the left side. The ex-owner connected it in place of the reverse cable and as this is incorrect, could someone show me through pictures where I correctly connect the rear brake cable?

Another thing, every time you reverse, is it necessary to activate the reverse key?

Isn't the reverse cable activated by a turn knob right by your left knee when seated?  If that's not there, you could always find the reverse lockout by tracing the cable back to the motor and add a zip tie or fab a bracket to keep it pulled all the time so you can downshift to reverse without any lockout needed.  However, be careful doing that.  If it's rolling forward enough and thrown in reverse it can break the rear ujoint or worse.

also, the rear brake cable is irrelevant as the foot brake works the same lever on the rear drum.  The front brake lever is the only one that really matters.  Unless you just want it to work because it should since you're doing a resto.

the reverse cable is really missing, at first i will continue using it with the rear brake lever, in case it gets too expensive to bring to brazil i will adapt a bicycle gear lever because from what i saw it will work well. the previous owner took some things and didn’t take good care of him, so I’ve been investigating what things were missing from him and what he needs to do

The manual may help 😁

the forum here is great, it has helped me a lot in the research I have done, many posts that are very relevant. Today I found a 300 4x2 bayou near here with a good price, I am thinking of buying it and when I get the 200 to sell it. they are great quads because of what the owners who own here in Brazil told me, most of them only do preventive maintenance, this is taking good care of

Not really @Khanh845, the former owner adapted it to the rear brake lever, but I'm going to make an adaptation here so that I can use the rear brake normally. There is a bicycle gear shifter that I think would do, it is in two positions and I can put it in the same location as the key, so I can bring the piece to Brazil, the value is very high and it pays to adapt it ...

With that I'm continuing the restoration here, this time it's the recoil starter that is missing the internal parts and with that I'm researching to make one more adaptation, the parts are difficult to get from what I'm seeing, so I get some photos I'll send here :D

Just picked up an 84 LT185 ATV, I understand there was an accessory add  on that gave it electric start, anyone have any info about that kit?

Howdy ya'll. I am working ona 2000 Yamaha Breeze 125. It was in rought shape when I received it and I am working through issues as they pop up. The quad had been sitting for years. I was able to get her running again, but I need your help with the following issue:
I don't trust the transmission yet and I don't want to make problems any worse. So, I haven't pushed things hard at all. Low rpms, less than 5mph in reverse.

      Nuetral: Runs as expected
Reverse: She seems to be driving fine at slow speeds. Going into reverse at idle is fine, coming out of reverse back into neutral won't work (the shifter is just stuck). As soon as I turn off the quad, I am able to shift around without any issue.
Forward: It slips. It seems to only transfer power to the wheels on a smooth surface and going slightly downhill. When shifting into forward at idle, there is a clacking sounds during the transition. Shifting back to nuetral works just fine.

Other Notable Symptoms: There was old oil in the vbelt and when I was tuning the carb, it starting blowing out of the CVT cooling vent at the front of the quad. Made quite a mess. There is positive crankcase pressure due to piston blowby, that I have not decided whether or not I am going to fix (customer budget dependant).  Since the oil was old, much darker than the new oil that is in the crankcase, I am thinking it seeped past a bad seal while it was sitting for years. The oil that was in it when I first got it had gas in it.

Thoughts: I am thinking maybe there is an issue with the clutch. I worry about the old oil intermingling with the dry centrifugal clutch. I was thinking my next step would be to take the cover off of the clutch and inspect it.

Let me know what you all think. Any advice and ideas is greatly appreciated. This is only the 3rd quad I have worked on and I have a lot to learn.

Hi all.  New to the forum & quads.  Seems like a great place full of info.
I just recently picked up a 2005 Suzuki KingQuad LTA700.  I need a battery.  I've been reading up on conventional vs AGM types.  I have a Royal Distributing and Canadian Tire.  RD has 2 types avail for my year/Model a battery YTX16-BS CRANK $75, and BATTERY YTX20CH-BS YUASA $140.  Neither of these is the type from the manual FTZ16-BS.
from what I can tell... I think the only difference is the capacity with the $75 unit rated at 14 AH/10HR and the $140 unit rated at 18 AH/10HR ... which is the rating in the manual for the FTZ16-BS.  How much does this make a difference for nearly x2 the cost?
And about the models/type numbers.... what is important to know ... they all end in "-BS" but are the other details relevant or just manufacturer naming?

I've been hunting for a rebuild kit or aftermarket replacement without success. Any tips? The OEM replacement is too rich for my blood.

Just picked up a 2006 Dvx400. There is a switch I can't figure out what it is or where it goes. Has 3 wires (light blue, black and Yellow)
