CF MOTO overall quality

Looking at recent customer reviews, it's pretty hit or miss - they either love em or hate em. Personally, I'd prefer anything Japanese made.

Reliable, old school Honda's are my fave followed by Yamaha. I've worked at dealerships that sell both and you can still get parts easily and the info about them is readily available.

  • 10 months later...

Ive used mine for skidding timber, railing in snow, trail riding, getting the snot knocked out of me and havent had any real issues yet. Yet of course.

before I bought mine I sat back and researched for 6 months pretty seriously.

KTM, Bosch and CVTech all got into business with CFmoto.

"most" of the reports besides the errant weird stuff seems to center around dealer attention to detail.

Sloppy final assembley in other words.

A large portion of the rest if you read reviews, is people just not taking care of them and trying to Rod and Mod them before the motor is broken in or intentionally trying to break them.

2019 they had a bad run with transmissions, scrapped their plan and got serious with CVTech.

In other words the Company listened to the consumer and fixed the issue.

It's turning its first thousand and except for the silly little buzzer falling onto teh exhaust and shorting the main cicuit (five cent fix when I figured it out) I have had ZERO issues with my 22 800XC

Engine wise, take care of it is a solid engine.

It's cleanly manufactured, cleanly fitted and just, nice looking.

Sounds good, feels good, rolls out and throttles down very good.

If youve looked at my time lapse video the hill in my backyard ramps up to 40 + degrees in a few spots and my bush bike just smokes the hill.

It doesnt see it as a hill, just a steep flat spot.

I certainly wont knock Honda or Yamaha but I would compare Cf right now to the early days when Honda got serious about building to the American Market.

Back when I was a kid we used to say the same things about all the rice burners.

Well, we were wrong.

The things are winning races, smoking polaris' and can ams in mud pits and growing a pretty large following of modders and riders. (Real talk powersports/Main Street and RNG)

I wanted a machine for Trail riding a bit of serious off roading and heavy labor around my place.

I got sick of waiting for dealers taliing smack (and I had money to cash out the door at any time), watching people charging 20% over current MSRP for a ten year old machine with it's tongue hanging out of its intake and after a year of reading reviews and doing walk and talk arounds.

I said screw it, Im not waiting for people to get their heads on right.

ten months later Im not regretting it.

But I did the break in immaculately and actually take care of the machine too.

Too much dang fun to ride.

Thanks for sharing that information I have never really looked closely at them, now I will , it sounds like a descent machine. I always rode the rice burners in the 60s nothing more reliable. Harleys and Triumphs were too expensive, and leaked oil everywhere, but I still liked them, nothing like the Harley sound.

Real Harleys are a labor of love. Nothing better than single kicking your hand built Pan or Shovel when some dude is struggling with his push button Japarley Koreason Special Edition SOA Dynabling Glide with matching factory sneakers . . . :aargh:. Never mind the Rump Ranger Riders out there these days. I've ridden in runs running with over 10,000 machines (thats not a mistype) and never seen the level of douchery I see now days. The stunt rice riders have better manners on the road.

I did a lot of reading on the brand before I bought one. I'd had cash in hand for two years meeting the great covid wall and seriously . . 8k for a 12 year old used machine because folks were on the pillage thy neighbors wallet bandwagon was ridiculous.

When I got into the machine and started doing the maintenance? Pretty easy to work on and the engine itself is elegant.

The one common thing I noticed was the majority of issues oriented around initial dealer set up (lackadaisical work) and sloppy break in.

Yes, CFmoto had some issues, but they RESPONDED to consumer issues and quality problems by upping their game.

The KTM/Bosch/CVtech partnerships really caught my eye. I know about KTM and bosch but researched those connections too.

And thats what really sold me.

KTM IS a NAME and so is CVTech. They aren't going to partnerup with a bad risk

Sorry I suck at these forums so if you see this submitted under update status, my bad. Anyhow this is a new shock for a 96 Yamaha Kodiak 400 4x4 it fits my 96 Yamaha Timberwolf 250 4x4 perfectly. Little narrower are the bottom than the original but everything else is perfect. I extended it to almost a half in from full extension because I’m pushing 350 pounds.  It rides and hold me well. So if any of y'allRace driven shock. have been looking for one and didn’t want to do the research here it is.

Heres my story. Kinda long. I guess I was a late bloomer when it comes to quads. I had never ridden a quad in my life. Rode Dirt Bikes as a kid growing up. Back in Oct of '06 I found a Mustang on craigslist. Took it for a test drive one morning before work. Fast car. 351 Cleveland. I had planned on meeting the guy again after work. For some strange reason thats still to this day beyond me, I stopped in Hillsboro MotoSports on the way home from work. I had 6 Grand on me. There was a left over '05 sitting by the front door. It was on sale for $4999. It was $5499 OTD. I didnt even look at anything else. I knew nothing about quads accept I thought it really looked coool and I had the money in my pocket to buy it. I was sitting on it when the salesman walked up and asked... "Can I help you?" Without hestitation I pulled 60 Ben Franklins outta my front pocket and said "I want this Quad. Load it up in my truck." It was just about dark by the time I drove away from the shop. BTW, I didnt bother to ask my ol lady if I could buy it. LOL. Anyway, I took it by the house and showed her. She was kinda stunned but not mad. We drove over to a friend of mines house and unloaded it. I took it to the field across the street from his house. HOLY CHIT!!!!! I was surprised by the power. I had it for about 2 weeks and took it to Sand Lake. I was there a few hours and rolled it on a banked turn at the top of the bowl right before you get to the one-ways. When it rolled, I flew off and landed on my belly. The quad came bouncing and landed on my back. For a month I couldnt even walk. I was scared of it. I considered trading it for a 250EX. Went back to the shop. The salesman said..."Dude!!! You dont want a 250EX!!! Trust me. Just get used to it" I still wasnt convinced. I put it on craigslist for $4000. Calls were coming in. I had a guy that wanted to come look at it that evening. I decided to take it for one last ride at Browns Camp before I sold it. I was still afraid of it. After about 5 minutes I started feeling comfortable on it again. I decided right then, I loved my Honda 450 and would learn how to ride it instead of selling it. That was late Nov of '06. Work was slow for a Painter in Oregon. My new job everyday? Going to Browns Camp and ridding my Quad. I bought my Girl Friend an '02 Blaster. I rode my 450 for 4-6 hours almost every single day for 3 months. And yes, I know my way around Browns Camp pretty well. LOL. In March I bought her an '06 TRX250EX (Thank God I didnt trade my 450 for one of those) LOL Since then, I have become totally addicted to quads. I love them. Couldnt imagine not owning at least one quad. Luckily I have two. My "07 was $6500 OTD in July of '07. Bought it for my Girlfriend. Traded in her 250 EX. A month later we broke up. So, I wound up with two Honda 450's.

      Hey I have a 1997 big bear 350 4x4
I replaced the shifter shaft and the shift arm linkage and the rod when I installed them all I was unaware that you had to line the dot on the shifter shaft with the gap on the linkage arm gap put it all back  together and rode it I can't get it to shift in the right gears  I can move the shift cam by hand and goes in different gears but with the shifter shaft in it riding I can't put it in R or N
Anyone know how to line up the shifter shaft and the shift cam s

I WANTED TO UPGRADE THE CARBURATOR ON MY 1992 BIG BEAR 350, SO I ORDERED A NEW CARB FROM EBAY.  ACCORDING TO THE WRITE-UP IT WAS A GOOD FIT FOR BIG BEARS FROM 1988 TO 1996.  WHEN I REMOVED MY ORIGINAL CARB I NOTICED THAT IT WAS DIFFERENT FROM THE NEW CARB MY CARB HAD TWO THROTTLE  CABLES THE NEW CARB ONLY HAD ONE CABLE.  HOW CAN I MAKE THIS CARB WORK ON MY TWO CABLE THROTTLE?

1996 4x4 Timberwolf rearend width. Can someone with some knowledge of these machines answer this question for me please. Are all 4x4 timberwolves this narrow in the rearend? These tires are so close the right one actually rubs the muffler.  Thinking about seeing if there are any spacers out there for it. I need at least an inch more clearance.
