I just run a magnetic pickup tool down my oil fill hole, generally when I get a new old one, and wiggle it around  to see if any metal chunks come out, that tells me a little about the engine condition.

Man that bearing is pricey. I'll order the stator puller, and hopefully one of the other 4 motors has a good one. The Quadrunner motor is on a shelf, hopefully it works.

Clean it and inspect it. They are pretty tough things sprag clutches, and simple..

If the surfaces look ok I'd try it again...  Given I don't have a spare bike sitting around.

They sometimes come right with a good clean and blow out,,

I was gifted four King Quad 300's, they were used to tow portable snow guns around the slopes. All of the plastics are trashed and racks bent up from rolling down the mountain. The lone Quadrunner is a 98, and will be the initial point of focus, as it reportedly ran before being parked in the field of lost dreams.

      Hi all,

I am wondering if any of you have a Clutch Starter gear from a 1988 era quadrunner 250 sitting around that you could get me a precise measurement of the outer diameter of the race the sprag engages onto, for me? I need to machine a damaged race down and install a hardened sleeve and need that measurement (it's on a different gear than the OEM one, so I can't buy and use a OEM gear).

I have (2) sets of brand new plastics available for Honda Rancher 420 2014-2023. These are genuine genuine OEM Honda plastics. One set is white and the other set is green. The boxes these are in are too big to ship.(Unless you want to pay for it. If so, lookup your own shipping rates from 17325 and box size is 58"x35"x18").  $400

I'm in the middle of repairing damage from the chain coming off of this from the previous owner. (I learned this is somewhat common on these for various reasons.)
What are you guys using to either help keep the chain correct and on the sprocket or guarding your engine in the case that it comes off / breaks?
Is there an upgraded guard that can bolt around the sprocket in replacement of the currently broken OEM alluminum?
