Kawasaki bayou 300 4x4 1999

I have a 99 kawasaki bayou 300 4x4 I just bought. It ran when I test drove it. I tried shifting from high range to low range and think it may not have been completely in neutral. I drove it onto trailer and put into neutral. Upon getting it home neutral light didn't come on, wouldn't start and wheels locked. I opened up and verified it is in neutral by looking at star thingy in case. Everything on that side looked good but it wouldn't change gears because it was in between high and low range. Got that adjusted and now it shifts but still no neutral light and rear tires are still locked. Was going to check neutral safety switch but can only find videos and pics of the 2 wheel version so I'm trying to figure out how to get to it I know it's under gear shifter and case on left side but don't know what to take off and would that make the tires lock. Front wheels move but rear are locked. Thanks for any help and advice. God bless America

I'm not familiar with that exact machine, but I don't think the neutral switch would cause the wheels to be locked. If it started before this issue chances are the neutral wire is fine and it actually is in gear. I would try rocking it back and forth while attempting to shift it, might just be stuck with a little bit of tension in the system or something misaligned.

Neutral switch would not make the wheels lock, if its not in neutral that would, the neutral switch is just a contact to tell you it is in neutral.

Did the neutral light come on when you got it. Sometimes neutral is hard to find you may have to rock it a little while shifting to find it, not sure on yours but on mine I push down to go in reverse while turning a reverse knob, and up to go into first , sometimes I have to pull the gearshift up just a tad to find neutral, if you go too far its in first.

Thank you for your response mine also has the turn know for reverse. The light did come on when I first rode it but after I tried shifting to low range is when I started having problems locked wheels which and no shifting . I have since fixed shifting issue and opened the right side up and the gear star or whatever it is shows its in neutral but still no light and locked wheels. They may be separate issues that neglect caused to happen all at once. I have not been able to find the right socket yet as sad as that sounds lol to remove rear wheel to check if brakes are locked but trying to figure out the neutral so I can start her. I found a pic online it is not my bike of the gear star thing I'm referring toScreenshot_20230427-052938_Google.thumb.jpg.ac9bb37a43481f3e2a9b0237af0a4553.jpg

Hi guys. I have a problem where the quad will start and run well for about 5 minutes and then it dies. On inspection the airbox has oil in it (quite a lot). The oil is pumping through the cylinder head breather hose. This problem first happened suddenly. I have since done the top end including, piston, gaskets, rings and valves. I have also done the carb (not that I thought that this was the problem). The compression seems normal. The only thing that I can think of, is that I did not grind the valves well enough. Anyone experienced this? If so, how did you fix it? Any other thoughts?

Hello I’m new here and was wondering is anyone knew of good replacement part numbers for front struts and rear shocks for this atv? I think I’ve found a new rear shock, that looks like the original but there is no dimensions or anything and was wondering if there are any afterMarket new front struts available. I know it’s a long shot but any help would be appreciated.

1996 4x4 Timberwolf rearend width. Can someone with some knowledge of these machines answer this question for me please. Are all 4x4 timberwolves this narrow in the rearend? These tires are so close the right one actually rubs the muffler.  Thinking about seeing if there are any spacers out there for it. I need at least an inch more clearance.

My friends KQ 300 starts fine and runs, as soon as you put it in gear and try to accelerate its bucks and farts like crazy, not moving... I cleaned carb and it worked good for 1 day... now back to same problem.... could it be such as a bent valve????

Howdy y'all, I'm trying to fix a neighbors 2015 Brute Force 300. Came in with hard to start and won't idle except on choke issue. I pulled the carb and found the pilot jet as well as the emulsion tube partially clogged. Cleaned up everything, put it back together, still having issues...  It will start right up on choke and will also start off choke if you give it just a touch of throttle but it absolutely will not idle unless it's choked just a touch. Also, excuse my ignorance but I'm assuming the "dial" thingy attached to the carb that turns in and out is for setting idle??
