Well, one of the things i liked doing as a kid was taking things apart and putting them back together. Now i am killing to buy a junk quad and rebuild it. I will either sell it or keep it. Now what i am asking is... what should i buy to rebuild that i can get good parts for.

P.S. Me and my dad are machanically inclined so no need to worry

I dont know how mechanically inclined you are.... but if your dad is really good at it and you got the money check the atv wreck sites,, or go onto used atv sites and find old atvs like 1999 and under.... like a Kawasaki tecate or bayou.... or if your into race bikes go with a honda 250r or any old hondas

fun machines to look for that you can find a lot of parts for.

Banshees

Blasters

Quadzillas <-- better hold on tight

LT250Rs

250rs

4 strokes

Warriors

400exs

idk..anyone wanna add to these?

Thanks i will start searching soon, i think i will look for a two stroke. I will keep you posted but it might take awhile to find something like that.

Quadzillas <-- better hold on tight

what?

He said you better hold on tight because Quadzilla is 500cc's of pure 2 stroke power in a 4 wheeler before government regulations. It's a rocket!

they are some beasts but the 500 and the 250 have weak frames... so if you do one of them i would recommend putting some gussets on the frame

Can you tell me where they are weak at???? There is one in Virgina that I am thinking about Trading....

And on the 2 Strokes......I would go with a Blaster to start..They are Relatively Cheap and you can bump them from 200cc to 240cc. for about 200 Bucks....At least that what I remember the kit being....

wow that blaster is awesome.

no dont buy it..

sayyyy...where is that guy located?

Bad news its too far away with the rising gas prices so we are gunna post a wanted add for a seized and or in bad shape atv to do a top end rebuild so...... yeah that sucks

Did a top end rebuild, honed .010 over, new piston, rings, valve seals, etc. When i re assembled i only had like 30 psi of compression but then after it sat all night i now it seems to have gained some somehow, there is much more resistance pulling it over and i even got it to fire for a few pops. Issue i got is that it makes a loud squeak noise through the intake i believe (goes away when throttled so something with carb area) and it seems to not want to run well. I took head cover back off and timing seems fine so im not sure if something is sticky and that's why i got some change over time or maybe the valve lash is messed up after doing all this, i did get another cam for it but i wouldnt think it would make enough difference to need to re lash. Any insight on next step would be appreciated, i will be looking up how to do lash on these because it is a very weird angle to slip a feeler gauge in.
Actually cam is slightly off now that i look at the picture, thought it was good while looking in person. Hmm.

I rebuilt the top end on my 2007 Honda Trx500fe. It ran fine right after the rebuilt. But now when I try to crank it it blows Bach through the carburetor. I held my hand over the opening for the intake air and it blew gas back on my hand. Can figure out what happened all of a sudden. It was cranking and was able to ride it running through all the gears. Now can get it to crank just blowing gas back to the air filter. Need help again. Starting to think I should have walked away from this one.

Can anyone recommend a good quailty bottm end rebuild kit for a 09 grizzly 700. I need to replace crankshaft and bearing and do not want junk quality?

I been working on this thing for like 2 months now and it will not run right, is very smokey, and has a pretty loud tap that i think is in the bottom end. Not sure how much the parts are but i will put the time into it if they are pretty cheap. Im not very experienced but going off how the plug looks and the oil on top of the piston i am getting a whole lot of oil coming in from somewhere, not sure if it can come from the valves or if the rings are just shot, my cheap scope cant really see the walls of the cylinder too well.

I was given a 07 big bear 400 with all the options. The prior owner ran it through water and it started smoking  so he took the head off and gave up. I have  a bunch of parts in boxes and did a quick inventory.  I need a jug, piston, rings etc and thinking it’s better to buy a complete top end. Does anyone have a recommended site to buy parts? I plan to go oem, no china junk but if there are quality aftermarket manufacturers I’ll do an upgrade.
