Some of you know that I'm looking at replacing my dad's dirt bike with a atv. We found a really nice 07 raptor 350 for a good price on ebay. What are some cheap mods/adjustments that can help get more power out of a 350? Thanks

Porting, high comp piston, cam upgrade, bigger carb, exhuast header, and ignition upgrades. Unfortunately none of these are really cheap, but they are the only way you can get any real power out of that motor. Those bikes are quite underpowered, unless you have already gotten it, I would look for a 400EX, you should be able to find them in the same price range as the Raptor 350, and it is a much better performing machine.

My dad likes the 350 for its low center of gravity and its width. width is really important because we need to get it and my bike on our 5x8 trailer. If we don't like it, then we'll sell it this spring and get a 400. Here's the link. 2007 Yamaha 350 Raptor ATV Quad Extras Low Hours CLEAN :eBay Motors (item 130318380561 end time Jul-19-09 18:35:15 PDT) the seller has lots of experience with atv's and just got a brand new kfx450, that's why hes selling this one. He'll sell it to us for $2400 including barely used extra tires and all the other parts for the quad. Since this is our first quad, we really don't need to have it screamin fast. This will be our little "starter quad" i guess.

First post here need some help/advice. I bought a 2001 king quad 300, vin number JSAAK43A212111871. I have been trying to do some basic maintenance as it runs but doesn't idle all that well . I want to take out and clean/repair the  carb but when looking for parts it ask for model X Y K1 K2. How do I know which model I have? I have tried some vin decoders but they haven't told me. If anyone could recommend a carb rebuild kit for my quad Id appreciate it. Also any tips on tracking down an owners manual?

I have just recently gotten a yamaha big bear 350 atv and I think the carburetor is a little off on its setting,bc it cuts out at full throttle and it makes a weird pluff kinda sound 3-4 seconds after I hit the kill switch to shut the atv off. I don't know why it's doing that so any help will be greatly appreciated.

Recently picked up a 1991 Lt230e for repair. Compression is a little low Id say, around 80psi, I also have spark but the spark is odd . When cranking the spark is a constant arc. I’ve got it to sputter but never fully turn on. I believe the spark is my issue, being constant and not detonating at the right time. I’m not sure whether this issue is an electrical fault like some missing ground, a faulty cdi, or a timing issue. Any ideas where I should start?

Troubleshooting a no spark issue, was running OK, maybe a little rich, turned it off, now no spark. I've checked/ohmed out the main key switch, the start/stop switch, neutral switch, brake switch - all good. It will crank the starter, but no spark with the starter or when I try the pull start. I've checked all fuses and diodes. Swapped battery. New plug. New coil. Swapped in a used CDI - no help. Traced, removed, cleaned, reattached all grounds. Removed things like my winch from the circuits to be sure a bad relay or something was dragging it down. When testing voltages, the orange wire going from the CDI to the ignition coil shows no/very low voltage-shouldn't it have 12V on it? Sometimes I get a very weak, intermittent glow on my spark tester, but not enough to fire the plug. I've checked continuity on just about all wires in the harness. Checked/cleaned/lubed w dielectric grease- all connections, redid a few that looked old/dirty. I've checked the stator resistances, all good, but have a stator and rectifier ordered anyway, will arrive Sunday. I verified that the rectifier has a voltage output back to charge the battery while cranking - 10.5-11V, low, but expected while starter is engaged. What else can I check as part of troubleshooting? I have a Haines service manual, but the 1999 350 4x4 seems to be an odd model, there isn't an exact electrical diagram for it, but found one for another year that has all the same number of wires and same color wires, so I've referenced that. Any hints, tips or advice would be appreciated! Thanks!
