I just bought a 2004 Suzuki Z400 from some guy in utah. i brought it all the way home in wyoming. it runs fine at first. then after awhile of riding it starts bogging down and choking up and dying. then it won't start for awhile like it's over heated. but the Temp. light and fan don't turn on. it's some kind of endurance problem. any help?

How long is a while, I have the same quad and my fan usually comes on within 5 to 10 minutes of riding. Also check to make sure the radiator itself actually has coolant in it Ive found mine empty before but the fill bottle on the side was full. Without fluid the sensor on the radiator wont read to turn the fan on. Im not sure this will fix your problem, but I'd check it your fan should be coming on.

being a 2004.

check your choke cable.

There are lots of LTZ400 that the choke plunger in the carbi or the cable gets rusty and when you pull the choke on, it cant turn off. Even tho you and push the thumb lever back to its starting spot, the plunger can still be out making the bike run rich with fuel and stop the bike and kill the spark plug.

having an issue with the unit when running under a load up a hill or in high gear, seems like the belt is slipping, there is a clapping sound coming from the primary clutch like it releases and snaps back in. i don't think I should have a noise like that. this is a friends unit and he has already replaced the primary twice with the same result.
not sure where to look next

My king quad 700 runs rough when cold then won't start some times but not often when it's hot. And occasionally smoke's a lot when it's cold I'm guessing that's rings but I'm worried unless it's causing the other problems

Has anyone else had an issue on older king quads where the oil would leak from the top of the head (due to a failed gasket) and drip onto the hot exhaust? Mine got so hot one time it caught fire. Just wondering if this is a common issue, as I've seen the same thing happen on multiple bikes that were the same model.

My 2014 750 king quad stalls sometimes when I touch or turn the handlebars, the problem has gotten worse,my machine has 475 miles and is only trail ridden,I have a new factory battery and i have 14.2 volts when the quad is running and 13.3 on the battery when not running, also using a multimeter there is no change in volts when turning the bars until it does stall,If I pull the 40 amp power steering fuse it will not stall.......I've been told its the ECU,Hate to buy one if thats not the problem, but its kinda leaning towards that,,,,,need some opinions.
