1999-2000 Polaris xplorer 400 starting trouble

purchaced 99 or 00 polaris xplorer 400 used a couple of years ago. recently, electric start stopped working, but pull start is fine. we all use it for property chores and my son rides a bit for fun. problem is, i can't pull start it. i do have the repair manual, but i thought i'd connect with other riders on this issue too. how do i tell if it's a starter or some other problem.

also, beginning to skip/buck as i accelerate, especially up hill. engine running smoothly, maybe a belt issue? how often does the drive belt need replacing. my son and i did it once a year and a half ago or so. thanks.

You can check the starter by applying voltage directly to the starter. First I would check the solenoid, by testing for power at the input pole when the key is on, then test for voltage at the output pole when you try to start it. I don't know much about the drive system on those machines, but I think the belt is a good place to start checking for problems, the manual should help you figure out what to look for.

when we try to start it via the starter, as apposed to the pull start, it seems to be making a click/thunk sort of noise coming from around the battery. any ideas on that? and thanks for the advice on the clutch. i'll be sure to check up on that. it was actually less than a year that i replaced the belt, and that seems like a fairly short life span for that belt. thanks. -rick (the son of jennie)

The clicking noise when trying to activate the starter can be a bad battery or even loose conections at the battery or starter. Check your connections from the battery down to the starter and make sure that they are all tight.

Hi, I am having issues with my TRX350D fuel pump.  It suddenly stopped running so I have replaced all the fuses and cleaned all the terminals.  I have fitted a new pump, fuel cut-off relay and rectifier.  Still nothing!!  The pump runs when attached to a battery.  The engine will start on the choke and the filter fills with fuel but it will  not rev and dies when the choke is closed. I have power to the relay but nothing at the pump black/white wire when cranking the engine.  Any ideas where to go from here would be very much appreciated!!

2022 Sector 550, 414 miles on it and the gas gauge reads empty.  I topped off the gas and it didn't change.
There is no fuse that I could find.  No access at the gauge cluster.
Wiring on the top of the tank looks good, properly connected.
Could the sending unit in the tank be stuck or broken?
Has anybody removed the tank lid?  Any tricks?
      Any other ideas?
      Thanks for any help,
      Clyde

From Arkansas. Just bought a 2012 Gator 850i RSX because I could not pass up the price. BUT it has an idle problem. So, to be honest, I joined just to get a service manual. I have a choice: 1)Buy a hard copy: ~$100; 2)Buy a CD ~$35.00; Get a direct download for free posting 10 times; or get a download for $29.00 (subscription). Haven't decided what to do yet.

So I've got a Hisun 550 that I was doing some work on that required removing the CVT and it's housing. Upon attempting to reinstall the clutch, sheaves, etc, I found that the belt no longer fits - it's far too wide. None of the parts have been replaced, they're all OEM. Exactly the same parts as what I took off a few weeks ago.
To be more specific, my belt is 1.25in wide, but the gap between the clutch and the primary sheave is only 7/8in wide. I'll include a few photos to explain.
Has anyone ever experienced such a bizarre problem? Any help at all would be appreciated, I've been stuck on this for a month. I'm open to just about any suggestion.
