Hello,

First time poster. What a great site.

My question is: My 08 King Quad keeps stalling on me. When it stalls I can wait a few minutes and it will start up and ride for a 1/4 mile then stalls again. Wait a few minuets and it will run a 1/4 mile then stall. I took off the air cleaner and it didn't make any difference. if I let it sit for a few hours it will run great. It has 1100 miles on it. This weekend we went for a 50 mile ride and it ran great untill the last few miles. Then it started to stall again. It's driving me crazy. For the record I know nothin about these quads. Any Idea what is wrong with it? It seams that it runs better with a full tank of gas. Thanks for any Info.

sounds like water in the gas, try seafoam one ounce to a gallon of gas, if it doesnt clear up you may have a spark issue, overheating issue or a fuel delivery problem, also, there is a slight chance your valves need adjusted, but i doubt that, if it runs beter with a full tank of gas, may be just water or a dirty petcock or jet, try the seafoam, run a full tank thru it and see if it helps if not you may have to have it serviced...also you are running 92 or 93 octane froma CLEAN container right ?

Firts off, welcome to the site, it is always nice to see new people here, so I am glad you like it.

Seafoam is great stuff, I swear by it as well. I put a little in every time I fill my gas cans up. It helps to stabilize the fuel and prevent deposits from forming. It works well to stabilize engind oil too. I am inclined to agree that you may just have some bad gas that sits on top until you start running low on fuel. I would just drain the tank and start with fresh fuel, adding a little Seafoam to the tank is a good idea too.

Welcome to QUADCRAZY! It sounds to me like you may have an electrical issue with fuel delivery or just a bad fuel pump that intermitently stops working or gets overheated. Maybe also as simple as a bad relay. There should be a fuel relay under the seat I believe. Try tapping that when it is not running or open your gas tank cap and/or hit the side of the plastic tank to send a vibration to the pump, to see if it kicks on. When it is not running, do you hear the pump go on?

Thanks for the suggestions. I always use 92 octane gas from a clean container. I Snowmobile during the winter and quad during the summer. They get used a lot.

I was planing on pulling the tank and checking out the fuel pump. I will look at the fuel when I drain it. I can't remember if the fuel pump was running or not when it would stall. I have never ran it under 3/4 of a tank and it would still act up. Is there a fuel filter to look at? Also is there any way to check out the fuel pump when I have it removed? Thanks for the help Guys.

Ok I pulled the fuel tank yesterday and found some water, oil, dirt, and a few small pieces of paper .

The only filter was on bottom of the fuel pump. I cleaned it out as best I could and put everything back together. I guess I will try it again and see what happens. If I do have the problems I will do as you suggested. Thanks for the help.

Well I had the chance to take the Quad out for a ride. 50 miles into the ride it did it again. This time I checked to see if the fuel pump was running. I could hear it. then I tapped on the fuel shut off to see if that helped. It' didn't. Then I took off the gas cap and I could hear it releave some pressure. My wifes quad would not make a sound when I took the cap off her's. Could that be my problem? A clogged check valve. I blew through it when I had it apart and it would let air pass through it. Damn this is pissing me off.

Mine also makes a sound when you open the cap. Did it start up when you put the cap back on? Have you checked the relays?

So it died while riding or when standing still at idle?

Yes it started back up. I road it the next day and every time I stopped I releaved the pressure and it ran good.

It dies when i'm running. It will run good and then just die like you turned off the key. I was wondering if the fuel shut off gets hot and shuts it off?

Thanks for the help.

We should have asked this a long time ago, but, what size is your KingQuad?

I think the check valve is the most likely culprit, unless there is a pinched hose on the vent line somewhere. If you took the valve itself out of the line to check it, are you sure you put it back in the right direction? I would double check all the hoses before you go and buy a new check valve, they run about $30, more from a dealer.

It's a 750 AXI

I have a manual and put the check vale in the correct way. I will check it again to make sure.

I rode it this weekend and it didn't miss a beat. I also checked the fuel cap to see if it was still letting of pressure and I couldn't hear it this time. Damn this thing is driving me crazy.

I know this is an old post but just found this online, I just joined to let you know that they had a recall on the gasket up by or for the fuel pump/tank. if your're sucking air maybe it's causing it to stall. Since it's fuel injected it shouldn't have a vented cap.

Hope you got it fixed by now.

Just bought a used 09 750 axi had same problems. Hard to start, wouldn't idle. Stalled as soon as I backed off the throttle. Finally pulled injector out. Have a container ready, to catch the gas. It,s under pressure. Pull the injector, use your thumb to block the gas or have a buddy catch it for you in a container. Blow it out with a compressor back & forth several times. Put injector back in & test. I was so happy! It worked for me.

      Hey everybody,

My proficiency is with Hondas and Yamahas make me see RED!

This bike is my brother in law's, it has 1199 miles on it and went from running great to dead with no start. Every once and a while it will start and sputter for 2 seconds. It is extremely sporadic when it fires but never runs for longer than 3 seconds.

      Here is where we sit:
      Brand New Fully Charged battery
Carb was cleaned with air hose and carb cleaner then into the ultrasonic cleaner with Aircraft aluminum cleaner
New Shindy Carb kit (made in Japan version)
Cleaned out petcock and gas tank
      New 93 Non Ethanol Gas
      New Spark Plug

It gets a spark through the spark test light every time
      Bluish white spark
When holding the spark plug 1/4" - 3/8" away from head it will jump and spark to the head
      Good Compression

      Here are the readings:

Pickup Coil 519 Ohms (range 459-561)
Charging Coil 266 Ohms (range 270-330)
      Lighting Coil 0.700 (range 0.702-0.858)
Spark plug Cap 10.58 Ohms (10kohms
Ignition Coil Primary Coil 0.5 ohms (range 0.18-0.28 ohms)
Ignition Coil Secondary Coil 8.20 kOhms (range 6.32-9.48 kOhms)

Would y'all think stator and pick up coil, rectifier or CDI are the culprit?

My king quad 700 runs rough when cold then won't start some times but not often when it's hot. And occasionally smoke's a lot when it's cold I'm guessing that's rings but I'm worried unless it's causing the other problems

      All help is appreciated thanks

Has anyone else had an issue on older king quads where the oil would leak from the top of the head (due to a failed gasket) and drip onto the hot exhaust? Mine got so hot one time it caught fire. Just wondering if this is a common issue, as I've seen the same thing happen on multiple bikes that were the same model.

My 2014 750 king quad stalls sometimes when I touch or turn the handlebars, the problem has gotten worse,my machine has 475 miles and is only trail ridden,I have a new factory battery and i have 14.2 volts when the quad is running and 13.3 on the battery when not running, also using a multimeter there is no change in volts when turning the bars until it does stall,If I pull the 40 amp power steering fuse it will not stall.......I've been told its the ECU,Hate to buy one if thats not the problem, but its kinda leaning towards that,,,,,need some opinions.
