Hi all,

I bought this ATV not running, and while doing the leak down test found air leaking from a hole above the exhaust port on the cylinder head. Does anyone know what this hole is connected to? I have a repair manual, but it does not state anything about it. Could it be a part of the auto compression release mechanism? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

I went ahead and started taking the head apart yesterday and found that the hole is a drain for the spark plug recess. I pulled the cam and found the exhaust lobe to be gone. I think my leaking was the rings. Time to put some money into it. Thanks for the reply.

If the air was escaping through the spark recess plug drain hole, then it seems to me that you were losing air past the spark plug, why elso would air be leaking out of that hole? I'm not trying to say that you aren't losing pressure past the rings, I am just pointing out that there is something else to look at here. Could have just been that the plug wasn't tight, but you may want to make sure the spark plug threads aren't damaged.

I don't think the spark plug adapter was tight, I am not sure how the air was going out the drain hole. I was plugging everthing I could to find where I was losing pressure. In the end I was definetly losing air past the rings.

So we are almost a month into winter and I've been so busy working on my house that up until today, I didn't realize that we just haven;t gotten any real snow yet to warrant putting the plow on my grizzly. So that got me thinking, what are the latest plows out there and what ATV plows are the best? I've got 2 snow plows for my grizzly, a quadboss pile driver atv plow set up and a snowsport ATV plow. They are both a bit dated now and I tend to stick with the snowsport due to ease of use and I just like it so much. So if you have a plow on your ATV, please let us know what it is and post a picture with your atv/plow would be awesome. Would also like to know what you like and dislike about it.
This is back a while when I did a write up on these 2 plows.... in 2009 I got the snowsport and in 2012 I got the quadboss.

I have a Sportsman 450 HO and almost killed my self when loading it on my truck with ramps.  It rolled off the top of the ramps and tailgate and nearly landed on me.  I now want to winch the ATV in to the truck.  My question is are the front side bed tiedowns in my 2011 RAM strong enough to winch to without distorting the hooks or sides of the bed?

      Hello All
I'm kinda new to ATVs. I just bought a 1987 Suzuki quad runner 230 Dual Range. I'm having a problem finding info on it. It's very clean, only 2.800 miles. The front wheels are only 30 in.center to center. I was thinking about adding wheel spacers to give it more stability. I realize the added stress on ball joints and bearings. I'm wondering if there are any other concerns? Any input is greatly appreciated!
