ATV Brake Pads

I think it's time for me to replace my brake pads, they're squealing. To be honest, I have not replaced pads in a while on my atvs, and I have my Grizzly now, and it's due. So, I'm sure I can find a set most anywhere, even get the OEMs.

Just curious, does anyone have an aftermarket brand preference in brake pads for ATVs? If so, where do you get them?

I would go by on what type of dirt you ride in. We tend to have more sand here which will eat up the pads quicker than any other dirt. I always go with a harder pad for my sons and wifes because the love the mud. I have a raptor 350 which sucks in the mud so i use softer pads on mine.

EBC, a little more spendy than other brands, but I think they are worth it. It's not like brake pads are that expensive anyhow. I usually get most of my stuff from RMATV, but I know BikeBandit has them too, I'm sure most other places carry them, they are a pretty popular product.

I didn't realize that it's one side per box..lol. I'm used to automotive pad sets, where both sides come in the box.

i usually get my brake pads on ebay ... you can get a full set (front and rear) on there for what it costs for just 1 pair at the dealer or some online atv parts places ... and i have not had any problems with items i buy from ebay ...

We took a gamble a few years ago on a Brand called Tusk. Now we get ALL our clutches and brake pads from this brand. RMATV sells them and very affordable. A full clutch pack for our Tecates runs $46, that's for Fibers, Steels and Springs...not bad. Their brake pads have served us just as well for just as affordably.

I am currently using EBC sintered pads and I am not happy with them. They are wearing very quick.

Also anyone know how to stop mud from building up in the brake caliper area? After a couple of rides I have to take apart the rear caliper because its packed with mud and I have no rear brake.

And NO I will continue to ride in mud!!

if you have the rotors with holes drilled in them its going to wear out pads alot faster in the sand and mudd ...i chainged my rotors over to solid non drilled and brake pads lasted 3 to 4 times as long ... and i was riding about the same conditions as you ...

I have both drilled and non drilled rotors... And they wear equally...

if you have a non drilled rotor on the rear the mudd and debrees will not ware the pads as fast cause its not getting inbetween the rotor and pads as much as with a drilled rotor ....its a proven fact... i have raced and ridden with several racers and have a few friends that are mechanics for racers and on wet muddy tracks and sandy tracks they will chainge the rear rotors to solid non drilled so the pads will last longer durring that race ... drilled rotors dissapate heat better than non drilled ... but will cause brake pads to ware much faster because the holes in them will pick up debries and hold them in the holes and wear the pads much faster ... take this from a 40 year old man who has a small repair shop and has raced and has alot more experience than kids on this site ...

I don't really care. That is my opinion, and that's what works best for me. And it's lighter than a solid rotor.

My problem seems to be that the mud gets compacted around the brake pads. To me it seems like im trying to compress the mud instead of the pads. After a couple of nasty mud runs, I literally have no rear brake at all. Stomping on the foot lever does nothing till i clean em.
