How far do you go for maintainance?

Why are you replacing the air box? Are you going with the new setup?

No.. Back when I rolled it years ago the box broke off the crankcase breather hose fitting. I had glued it back on and kept the original box. I noticed a bit ago that it had broken free again so I just ordered a new box and filter to replace it.

I'm keeping the quad stock. It works really well as is. It even still has the stock front air intake setup. Perhaps I'll consider a snorkel setup next year if I find it necessary.

Oil change after every third ride or about 10-12 hours. Air filter gets cleaned and reoiled with the oil change. After a wash i remove plastics for a quick check of nuts amd bolts etc. Tire pressure, chain tension, and axle nut gets checked before every ride. Brake and clutch play are noted during a ride and adjusted accordingly

for maintenance, I go to my garage. I have been working on ATVs since I was a kid, with my father. Now I own/operate SRP Machine in South Mills, NC. I have clients who drive all the way down from NY to have me rebuild their engines, and have had motors shipped from Canada for porting. For quality maintenance, there is no distance too great. The key is to find an honest, experienced technician. If anybody is looking for one, please visit me at MX Performance Parts | SRP Machine | Call 252-771-0019.

I know with my Honda 400ex the engine oil also is used for the transmission and clutches. I now run a 500cc motor with almost twice the power. Heat, since its air cooled breaks down oil much quicker. I dont send my oil out for analysis so its hard to tell when I should change it. My rule of thumb is after the third ride. Plus my bike sometimes sits a month or so between rides which isnt good either.

Have a 1998 AC 300 2x4, Just installed a new carburetor. Engine starts easy but the choke RPMs are very hi and take along time (5-10 mins when cold out). After engine has warmed up choke releases and it idles and runs fine., It does no have an electric choke. The choke lever is never used and it seems like an auto choke? Long story short, how can I lower the choke rpm levels?

Also, carb came with a spare145 jet, not 100% sure what is installed. Could this impact choke RPMs?

Any help and information greatly appreciated.

So here where I live in Newfoundland Canada, they let you drive your bike on the road provided it’s registered and insured same goes for crossing highways but on trails you don’t need to be insured. And I don’t even think you need a full license to insure your bike they said it was up to the insurance company. I’m trying to get my old 1985 Suzuki 250 registered they have to do a search for it to make sure it hasn’t been in anyone else’s name first. Hopefully it comes back clean I am pretty excited

I've been using Valvolene 10w 40 ATV oil but, it's like $8.00 a quart. Is that about the going rate? Or is there cheaper alternatives that would be suitable? Thanks

So the other day I picked up a Lakota 300, it's going to be a new project for a bit, the engine is super clean and so is the frame...luckily the VIN was intact.  However, it is the missing the air box (the one that holds the filter) but it does have the air chamber that goes to the carb.  These air boxes seem to be pretty pricey, so my question is has anyone had any luck running a pod filter on theirs and if so, what kind of jets are you running? The carb on this one is a Keihin CVK, I have yet to pull it off and inspect it.

Just bought 07 450ER and took it out for a ride(20 min) came back in and saw oil on swing arm. Upon further inspection found it was coming from air box. Wondering if it could be to much oil ( draining and refilling both tomorrow) , or possibly something worse. Guy isn't answering any questions now smh.. thanks ahead of time
