IMO, you would be way better off getting a 450r. That kits gonna cost some pretty good money. And it won't be reliable, atleast not like a stock 450r. I don't see that it would be honestly worth it.

The complete kit plus parts machining and labor is far less than even a wrecked 450. I was planning on buying a kfx700v instead but ididnt have the funds. Im figuring i pay as i go at this point. As far as reliability your probably right but im hoping that 4ST are professional engine builders

Figure this. Sell your 400ex, and use the money that you would put towards the motor. You should have enough to buy a nice 450R. You will have ATLEAST $1500 into the motor, and you could sell your current bike for seems atleast $1800-2000.

Im talking with 4ST about machining my 400EX motor to 500cc. From what ive read this kit is quite reliable. Hoping to get this done sooner than later. $$$$$$$

Any thoughts?

Get the 450 instead !! you`ll be happier !!:yes:cooling it will be a problem !! the 440kits are known for having cooling problems imagine what a 500cc kit will be like !

I dont have the money for a 450. If i were to buy a quad it wouldnt be a 450. Id get the kfx700. Went riding with a modified one and a stock one. A 450 wont even come close (oh boy here come the naysayers comments)

Anyway i am doing this build in steps. I priced it out and still going to be far less than a 450r

No one ever asks for less power. I did a BBK on my quad and it has been very reliable. With a new to you used quad who knows what you are going to get. Stick with yours and add some HP. Good luck with the build. Post pics along the way.

It seems every ATV i look at to buy used has no title, does everyone loose there title, or do they change hands so often the title is lost in the shuffle. The ones that do have titles are triple the price. I am new to buying used quads is this pretty standard procedure.
I know all quads are good and tough but thought it might be good to hear opinions as to what member think is the best, from your experiences.

What are everyone's thoughts on the CFmoto Brand ATV? I can get everything I want for a fraction of what these big brand name wheelers are charging. TIA for your input. Please let's keep this nice and clean Peep's

      Hi everyone,
I often work on both ATVs and larger construction equipment, and I’m always on the hunt for solid OEM manuals—service, repair, and parts. The usual searches give a lot of random PDFs or unofficial scans that aren’t very trustworthy.
What online sources do you all use when you need a factory manual quickly? Are there sites you’ve found that consistently provide genuine OEM content for ATVs or heavy machinery?
I recently came across Heavy Equipment Manual, which claims to provide verified OEM service and parts manuals (covering brands like Caterpillar, Komatsu, Kubota, etc.). Has anyone here tried it, or do you have other go-to resources you’d recommend?
I’m interested in options that are:
      ·        Fast to download
      ·        Cover both heavy equipment and ATV models
      ·        Clear on licensing and safety
Thanks for sharing your experiences and any recommendations!

I’ve got a 2000 400ex with a dg slip on muffler, it came with he stock muffler on it but the previous owner had the dg in a box so I put it on. I’ve been riding it for the past month and a half and every time I let off it backfires, and the other day the backfires got way louder, 2x louder! I’m concerned that I may hurt my motor? Why does is backfire??? Thanks
