I am in need of a ? ATV to do spraying on Bedded forestery land. The wheel width must be at least 5 ft wide, with a clearance of at least 24 inches. The speed we would be running would 2 to 5 mph. Would have a 20-30 gal tank mounted. Is there something out there that is already available or do I need to customize an exsiting platform. If I should go with an exsisting platform what type /model/size would u reccomend and where do I go for the custom equipment.

Thanks in advance for any info.

If I can get the clearance is their such a thing as wheel spacers and if so will the bearing etc hold up using these. I use this type of spacers on my farm tractors. I could have them fabricated at a local shop.

Here is what I think would work best. A long travel Kit on a ATV with a 6" lift and arched A arms. Then run some skinny agricultural tires on it. No need for a SXS because with the long travel and lift you can at least fit 30" tires under it. I have about 18" of ground clearance on mine with no lift and 30" tires. A long travel lift will also make the ATV more stable.

It may be a little expensive Lift is about 2K Axels 2K and tires/rims 1K plus the cost of the ATV.

Here is an example only picture skinny tires on there.

That look like it will work. What is the width from tire center to center. Where can I find the "stuff" to set a few machines up like this. What type of machine do you think would hold best up under day after day use. Keep in mind the speed will be slow, 3 to 5 mph , the terrain is flat (except for the bedded area you are riding on) often muddy, with lots of logging debris.

Not sure on the center to center width but these guys would know. The ATV in the picture is 48" wide so the wheels center to center should be around 52" +/- but then you can add 1" or 2" wheel spacers or they can custom build the a-arms longer before you order the axels.

Home - MUDTECHinc Custom ATV Fabrication Should be able to hook you up with the lift and axels.

I am being partial but an Arctic Cat Diesel would be awesome for this job and you might even be able to run a bio diesel. At first I would have suggested a low cc gas machine like a 400 but then you might need additional power to turn large tires if you choose to use 30" plus tires.

Let me know if you are going to place an order with the Mud Tech Guys the phone numbers on their site are the easiest way to get a hold of them and tell them swampcat sent ya.

Does anyone have a recommendation of a really Heavy Duty ATV cover. I have bought several and they do keep the water off somewhat, but they are very thin and do not contour with the shape very well and water pools up in the rack louvers. I think i may be looking for a heavy canvas one, if anyone has a recommendation it would be greatly appreciated.

So we are almost a month into winter and I've been so busy working on my house that up until today, I didn't realize that we just haven;t gotten any real snow yet to warrant putting the plow on my grizzly. So that got me thinking, what are the latest plows out there and what ATV plows are the best? I've got 2 snow plows for my grizzly, a quadboss pile driver atv plow set up and a snowsport ATV plow. They are both a bit dated now and I tend to stick with the snowsport due to ease of use and I just like it so much. So if you have a plow on your ATV, please let us know what it is and post a picture with your atv/plow would be awesome. Would also like to know what you like and dislike about it.
This is back a while when I did a write up on these 2 plows.... in 2009 I got the snowsport and in 2012 I got the quadboss.

I have a Sportsman 450 HO and almost killed my self when loading it on my truck with ramps.  It rolled off the top of the ramps and tailgate and nearly landed on me.  I now want to winch the ATV in to the truck.  My question is are the front side bed tiedowns in my 2011 RAM strong enough to winch to without distorting the hooks or sides of the bed?
