2005 Artcic Cat 500 - Electrical/Winch Problem

i have a warn winch, and when i got it stuck i was using the winch to pull it out and was tht stuck where it couldnt pull it out with the winch alone!!! so i thought id give it some throttle while operating the winch and when i did, the word volt started flashing on the display screen and it lost power started spitting and sputtering and cut off!!! why did it do this???? is it because it drained the battery of power and didnt have enuff juice to operate efi ???? hopefully someone can answer this and hopeffully tell me how or what to do to fix the poroblem!!!!!! much ablidged!!!!

was the battery at full power to begin with? maybe the winch isn't big enough and you strained it trying to get out? are all the connections good?

Yep that is it! Both the Carb and EFI models act funny when the battery is low or there is a bad ground connection. My guess is that from all the winching the battery was drained and you just have to give it some time on the battery tender.

More likely the battery itself is weak and could not handle the large draw the winch put on it. Same thing happened to me plowing snow, pod flashed "volt" when winching the plow up and this was with a charged battery. The stock batteries suck, I replaced mine with a better aftermarket one and never had problems with it since.

Yep Mike good advice if the battery does not hold a charge.
