Hello there!
I'm new to the forums, but not new to the hobby. Admittedly though, I'm not super mechanically capable. But usually my contributions result in the problems I've attempted to solve via help with the forums and I will post my solutions. Or it I've solved a problem myself, I will post about it and how I solved it.
I've owned a lot of used (ever bought new) ATV's from: Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki, and Polaris. From sport to 4x4, and have developed all my biased opinions of each brand.
Well that's my intro in a nutshell!

My Yamaha Big Bear shifts through all the gears good, goes into reverse smoothly, but when i go to get out of reverse it takes a lot of effort to get it back to first gear, and even then it does not go very smoothly, have to pull up on the pedal really hard, anyone else ever had this problem. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I recently had to replace the starter on my Kodiak. It cranks super easy now but it's make this high pitched squealing sound. It sounds like bearings that's not greased or something. I didn't take the starter apart to look it over before installing it. So it could need greased. Should I take it back off and do that, or could it be something else I should look at? It didn't make this noise with the old starter.

Starting this build thread to keep up with everything on my build and hope to motivate someone!
I picked up this 2008 Yamaha Big Bear 250 2 weeks ago. A guy that I hunt with parked it at the hunt club for a year or so before I asked him if he wanted to sell. He said " fill my feeder and throw some batteries in my cameras, and you can have it". Sounds like a deal to me!
I have attached some pictures of how it sat under a tarp in the woods and when I got it home and cleaned up a little.
