Hi, brand new to the forum and first time ATV owner at 46. I picked up what is believed to be an 87 to 89 big bear 350 4x4. The owner was not sure. My big question is it appears the shifting is neutral at the bottom and five up unlike all my dirt bikes. Is this right? There is no Manuel and I have not had enough time or area to get it up to speed and run it through the paces. Any help, owners manuals, and an order of things to inspect and service first? Thank you, Dan

Hello, i recently bought a 2000 Suzuki LTF500 semi-automatic. I was riding it and found out that its hard to shift into 3rd gear and above. could it be because of the tuning because the rpm might be to high, cuz in neutral it would sometimes rev high by itself? or could it be something in the trany? Also it shifts easily when off

I just picked up a really clean 1995 Moto 4 350. It runs great, but it will only go into one forward gear, neutral and reverse. I can run the shifter up and down and it will finally find a gear, or neutral. What should I do to trouble shoot this? Does anyone have a service/repair manual for this model? Thanks!

I have a 2005 Fourtrax. It wouldn't shift and the display was blinking three times so I replaced the angle sensor. It initially worked, but now the display is blinking eight times. I did not reset the computer after replacing the angle sensor. Do you think I need a new control motor? Anyone else have this issue after replacing the angle sensor? This is a great site. Thanks

I have a 07 trx 400ex. I had issues with the shifting. It would shift up to 2nd then hit a roof and go no higher. I took it apart and split the case. The shift drum works fine when shifting by hand or with pliers. But when you use the gearshift plate and shifter it will not move. Any ideas?

Greetings, I have a 1998 Yamaha big bear 350, new to this. When its cold it is very difficult to shift. Once its warm its ok, however, my old feet don't like the shifting. I saw on ebay a hand shifter conversion kit. Any advice, I live in the Low Country of SC no hills, I use the machine around the farm for corning and scouting. Thanks, Jim

Hello all!! New to this site, but a desperate call out for help to avoid high repair bill. A "friend" of mine who was drinking decided to take my 4wheeler for a ride. Needless to say, he didn't seem to understand the you have to press in the brake to change gears. Not HAPPY. Now my ride will only go into Park and H. WHAT parts should I be looking at replacing. I have not tore it apart yet, and looking for advice as where to even start. Any ideas are appreciated!!!! And before anyone asks, NO ONE rides my equipment at all. I have learned the hard way to take the keys out and OPPS i cant find the keys at the moment ( this excuse works!!).

i have a 89 lt-4wd, and it doesn't want to easily downshift into neutral I believe it could be a bent shift fork. Is my thinking correct, and has any done work on the transmission of these quads or have any tips? thanks in advance.

I have a 1995 Magnum 425 4x4 which I purchased new. It has low mileage as it was used around farm until replaced by Ranger five years ago:biggrin: now my 11 year old son wants to upgrade from his Sportsman 90 and since the 425 is not used I let him have it as his since he puts many hours in the Ranger on the farm. Prior to parking it I was having issues with it going from reverse to forward. It will not fully engage and just click. I adjusted the linkage and it would go in forward fine but then not in reverse. If I adjust to go into reverse it then will not engage fully in forward. I do not mind putting some money in this machine for my son but have no idea what part may be worn out. Thanks for any help in advance.

I was riding around the other night and it was shifting fine. No noises or anything....I stopped to pick up some stuff and then when in first gear it would rev so high and then it acted like it was in neutral. When the RPM's came back down it would engage 1st gear again. Reverse works fine. Any ideas??????????????????????????????????????????????

Hi, a friend has me looking at his Foreman 400 (4x4) and I haven't worked on these things in 10 years so need advice: It stopped shifting on him. He's used it pretty heavily since he bought it new. When you try to shift it, it feels like it's trying to grab, but skips over the gear and doesn't change gears. Can't get it back into neutral to start it. Any 'easy' ideas or should it head to the shop? Thanks!!

Hey guys I am new here but am having some problems. My 400 rancher AT is having trouble shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. I get a grinding and it seems like it is having trouble shifing gears. After it shifts into 2nd it is fine. Also it does it in Auto and Manual. Any thoughts?

I have a 2009 Kawasaki brute force 650i that I bought from a salvage dealer. When it was bought it had 98 miles on it. Everything that was broke was fixed including a new crank and piston rings (the motor was apart). However one problem remains it will shift in all gears but will not engage in all gears. The shift linkage can be adjusted so that it shift to all gears but low does not engage or it can be adjusted so that it shifts to all gears but reverse is not engaged. I just can't get both low and reverse to engage with any adjustment. Also the only indicator light that ever comes on is the neutral. I have been told that the shaft might be bent or the bracket on the end. They both look good to me. Any suggestions.

I have a 1998 2wd trx300. After it warms up--riding for 3-4 minutes--it wont shift correctly. I can be in 2nd or 3rd gear and it starts loosing speed but the engine rpms are still up. It feels like something may be slipping!?? I would appreciate any help or ideas.
