2012 Arctic Cat 425i - Reinstalling Air Filter

I had water in that box under the seat so I thought I had better look at the filter. By the time I got it back together I was almost in tears, and I used to work on British cars. I tried to remove the lid and it wouldn't come off until I removed the whole air box. To get it back on I had to remove the mounting bolts for that water catch box and separate it from the throttle body. I had to put the factory intake pipe on the air box 1st hoping I had it positioned right and fish it up through there. Basically the whole system is in it's own way. I also had it jacked up with both front wheels removed. Am I missing something here or is there a trick to this? I also wanted to ask if any one knows the HP rating for my machine? Arctic cat seem to think it's a secret

I think yours is basically the same as the 366 model, does the lid to the air filter look like the picture? It is a bit of a pain to change it out. What I do is use a 1/4 inch socket to loosen the clamp from the air filter top to the intake snorkle. Then disconnect it from the air box. Then I pop off the three clamps (of course one is behind the unit which is real fun to get to) Then it should come out without too much trouble. You shouldn't have to disconnect the other side or take the wheel off. I turn the wheels hard left before starting and that helps. You have to work around the air deflection shield but it has enough give to it to allow slipping off the air box top.

That looks pretty close. I could not reach the back clip or the hose clamp holding the snorkel on with out removing it. Just no room to get your hand any where. I was going to take a picture today but forgot.

Reminded me of changing fuel pumps S-10 and a couple Isuzu I owned. After the second or 3rd time removing the gas tank I finally got smart and removed the whole bed instead.

Maybe I should have removed the whole front plastic/fender assembly

I was just thinking. Isn't the 366 Air cooled? Mine is water cooled and the coolant reservoir is about 1/2 inch in front of that air filter top. That explains a lot. instead of completely re-engineering for the liquid cooled engine they just stuffed things where ever they would fit.

Yes the 366 is air cooled. I didn't realize the 425 is liquid cooled.

However, the way my girl likes to hit the water holes, I might as well say its liquid cooled :roflc:

I have had the front plastics off the 366, not that hard to do but that seems a bit extreme to just change out the air filter.

Hey guys, I’m new to the forum. What I got is a 2001 Yamaha Bear Tracker 250, got it as a project on trade and the problem I’m dealing with is a “no spark” problem and been trying to hunt down the cause for two weeks. I’ve replaced the stator, pick up coil, CDI, wiring harness, ignition, coil pack, spark plug, solenoid, battery, etc. and I’m still not getting any luck. Even tried bypassing the kill switch. I also noticed two things on this quad, another CDI under the back plastic by the voltage regulator, and a blue and green wire coming from the motor behind  the foot shift, tried to hook it up but it broke off and I’m thinking the broken wire would cause it to have no spark, if not then I need someone’s help on this and wanna see if I can get spark again. If anyone knows why I have this problem, the help would be greatly appreciated.

So the other day I picked up a Lakota 300, it's going to be a new project for a bit, the engine is super clean and so is the frame...luckily the VIN was intact.  However, it is the missing the air box (the one that holds the filter) but it does have the air chamber that goes to the carb.  These air boxes seem to be pretty pricey, so my question is has anyone had any luck running a pod filter on theirs and if so, what kind of jets are you running? The carb on this one is a Keihin CVK, I have yet to pull it off and inspect it.

Just bought 07 450ER and took it out for a ride(20 min) came back in and saw oil on swing arm. Upon further inspection found it was coming from air box. Wondering if it could be to much oil ( draining and refilling both tomorrow) , or possibly something worse. Guy isn't answering any questions now smh.. thanks ahead of time
