I have "All Trails' It tracks me and shows trails even in mountains of Nevada when on foot. Plus it has an emergency communication$ feature that works from any remote area. I have seen it work with others. Damn Helicopter extractions are expensive! I think it would even work in my Hotel room..Never tried it.... LOL.

What do you use for communications to home or for an emergency when out of cell phone range ? I haven't seen any threads on here concerning communications for emergency or just to keep in touch so I figured it would be interesting and helpful to get one going. We never think about it when riding , but we should .. Too many people have gotten into serious trouble while out riding and in such a case being able to call for help becomes a major consideration. I bought a Starlink Mini and wonder if anyone here is using one or a satellite emergency communicator like the Zoleo . At the moment I have lent my Mini to my granddaughter who is working in a remote mining camp. We have run some tests using it on standby mode and got very pleasantly surprised at just how well it works without having to have it on an expensive plan. Initially set it up on their 100GB data plan but set it to drop to standby on billing date.. At a size of about 12" x 10" it can easily be carried / set up on a quad or ATV / 4x4

Hey, I'm thinking of upgrading my stock sport glide seat with memory foam as a bit of a project. I've seen how some guys use the heavy-duty padding inside the water repellent UTV seat cover fit Polaris Ranger XP 1000 crew for their UTV projects and wanted to try something similar for my bike. Has anyone done a DIY foam upgrade and have any tips? What sort of foam density would people recommend, and how easy is it to remove and refit the factory seat cover over the new padding? Any advice gratefully received!

Noi It would not run if the pickup coil was wrong line up would be wrong. The problem is you are only getting 3 volts out of the CDI , and you are getting the same with both CDIs i dont have a service manual to chase the wiring , but something is wrong there, make sure 12 volts is going in and make sure your CDI ground is good. The problem seems intermittant something electrical is not doing its job all the time. When you were riding it was there any hint of a running problem, poor idle, backfiring etc. or just wouldnt start after 2 days.

I honestly didn’t know the pick up coil could go in wrong but would that still be a problem as I had the bike for a run after I replaced it and it was great, spark Only died after parking for a couple days, Ohms test was good aswell on this pickup coil, I have most of the harness open Iv found a few gremlins and repaired but still no fix and tested the killswitch at the switch so maybe a problem further down in the wiring

Welcome to the forum ! You have replaced everything spark related. I think at this point i would check out the start stop switch a little closer i have seen them cause more problems in the older Big Bears, only getting 3 volts out of the CDI couuld also be a ground issue, check all of your connections and make sure you are getting 12v to CDI. I have also noticed wiring harness issues also on the bears it been a long time since i have worked on a 350 but iknow on the 400s its easy to get misalignment of the pick up coil in fact the last one i worked on previous owner had it on upside down. Probably not much help all i have for now, but im thinking about it. Just wanted you to know we are listening, but this is a tough one. I have a 2009 Honda Rancher TRX420FA with shifting problems. Usually it shifts ok when cold but after couple minutes it will stop shifting with no codes. The 1st shift clutch oil pressure when in first gear is 74psi. The 2nd shift clutch oil pressure when in second gear is 74psi. The 1st shift clutch oil pressure when in neutral is zero. The problem is when the tranny is in neutral the 2nd shift clutch pressure starts around 10-15psi and builds to 20psi. Is this normal?

Bought a 88 big bear 350 4x4 took it for a run and lost spark, found it was stator so I replaced that then took it for a long run and it sat for 2 days and no spark again, this time stator tests good on ohms and voltage for source and pick up coils so I started replacing things including regulator, ignition, ignition coil and plug cap, spark plug and everything tests great including all safety switches until the orange wire for ignition coil from the cdi it only reads 3 volts so I replaced the cdi and still 3 volts, any ideas??

I know this thread is old but I have a 88 big bear no spark, replaced stator and coils regained spark took for long ride then lost spark again all resistance and voltage tests good Iv replaced regulator, ignition coil, plug cap, plug, ignition, tested killswitch and neutral switch still no spark, only getting 3 volts to orange wire from cdi to coil so replaced cdi and it was still the same any ideas?

repair 2006 Polaris Sawtooth No Spark
LashinWheeler replied to LashinWheeler's topic in Polaris ATV Forum
I pulled the stator and realized it only has a pick up coil and not an energizing coil... The battery is completely dead and I had a jump pack hitched only to the cables. I was only getting 10.8V and it seems this CDI is very picky for voltage from what I have read. I have the battery charging and if it doesn't charge then I will pick up a new one. I have a Fluke 87 V, and I will have to look at voltage once the battery is charged. At least it gets an oil change at this point... Thanks, -

Hey guys and gals. I've been working on my friends 2007 big bear IRS. Unfortunately after 3 different people got their hands on it and only made things worse every time. After months of finding just crazy problems everywhere. I'm finally at the point we're its almost 100% !!! But I'm getting a short somewhere between the 4xW switch I believe. I managed to by searching the internet like a fiend, got my hands on an official Yamaha wire harness for the year and make. But I don't have the numbered component list and to be honest. After hours of going through and making everything so it's easy to reference. If anyone has a picture of the referenced components. I would be forever in your debt. I've spent hours marking up the blown up diagram so it will be easy, for any possible future repairs. Please and thank you. Here's a picture of what i have so far. Unsealed it in plastic so oil and crap won't spill or get smudged. This damn things worth it's weight in gold. Thanks Jeff 2007 Yamaha big bear 400 IRS. YFM40FBW· 2 replies
