  1. Newer winches that have remote control also have cable control. Remote is great in that you can stand in a safer spot should there be a line snap back from a failure of the line or connection. It also allows you to have a clearer4 view in cases where there is some "fancy" winching going on because of awkward spots.. The cable control is the for when the battery in the remote decides to die on you . My Smittybilt !0K pound X20 winch on my truck has both in the hand control.. Flip the switch to remote for wireless connection or to cable control, and connect the cable from hand control to the winch .. There's lots of smaller ATV winches with both wired and wireless connection.. That's definitely the way to go for both convenience and safety.

Hate hearing that, i know it can happen just hasnt happened to me, i know when i am pulling heavy loads i can hear when the winch is struggling and get as far away as possible and duck down in front of truck. I cringe when i am watching uTubes of these guys pulling cars out of woods that have been there for 40 years, they are right up there side of the cable pulling and pushing on it, i would be as far away as possible.

  3. The wireless control is better because it is safer if you have wire cable. With a wireless winch you can stand away from the atv so that the cable doesn't hit you if it snaps. There was a girl around here a few years younger than me who had her arm snapped off mid forearm when a cable snapped when her dad was winching a truck out. Granted it was 2 trucks involved so the tension on a atv would be less but it could still hurt/kill you.

  6. Interesting post...I bet this is common. Been there Done that. 1. Aftermarket belts will not stand up to the heat,,,only use OEM...tried that and wasted $$ on cheaper aftermarket belts 2. Belt replacements require both secondary and primary clutches be taken apart and relubed...I would not use factory ..OEM..lube. I would use Tinkseal lube You tube has videos for relubing clutches. 3. If there are slight groves in sheaves of clutches replace. I am talking 0.004 " smooth groves where the belt has worn into aluminum sheave! If you get OEM part number you can usually safey get an OEM replacement from Ebay etc...I did ..caveat emptor...buyer beware!

  7. That expression originated in the 1840's; most millennials have no idea what it means...LOL...I read a lot...Sometimes i have trouble talking to people my own age.. If you recognized that expression you are old!!! but Good!
