    It takes more than small mods. Small mods are considered bolt ons. You won't beat me on a 400 with just bolt ons. I promise you.

    The 400EX and the Z400 are about the same in stance. I have heard that the 400EX handles better than the Z, better geometry.

    Not every mod has power in every room, be patient. The 250R is comparable to the 450R in power. It is a race machine, the 400s WILL hang with the 450s in trails, top speed is the only place where you will lose. The 400 can be made to go as fast as the 450s.

    All of the main MFG's make great machines. As long as you stay name brand you can't go wrong but the 400EX is a great choice.

    If you put the same rider on both machines for3 laps, the YFZR would have faster lap times. It is wider and lower which means better handling. From what I have heard the difference in power between the 2 is very noticeable. The R comes with better shocks than the standard too. But i know what you mean about EFI. Although I would love to have it for up here.

    HMMMM, Who? LOL Yeah I really think Yamaha should have came up with something other than the YFZ450R. Everyone always refers to the TRX450R as the "R" or the 450R. Now there will be confusion.

    The 2 strokes are not meant for slow riding, you have to keep you rpms up or you will foul plugs left and right. Easy fix, just replace the spark plug. I would recommend the 400. The 250 is going to need a lot more TLC than the 400.

    Has anyone noticed that Yamaha has been making their logo red instead of blue on their website? The last time they did this is when they started putting the blue logo everywhere a year before they started making their bikes blue. First they steal the 450R label now their color?
