I have a 2005 Arctic Cat 500 with a susuki motor, 2500 hours.  I was riding it yesterday, came out this morning, will turn over but no start.  I have spark and fuel.  Took carb off and cleaned it.  Back firing out of exhaust and air intake.  Not sure how one day it runs but 12 hours later it won't.  Just need some pointers on where to look.

It’s possable that the timing chain jumped when you shut the bike down. Check the timing first and see how it looks.   Then check the plug and see if it’s flooded out and the color of the plug.  Maybe the float in the carb is stuck.  But start with the timing.

Try a new spark plug first, sometimes they foul for no particular reason. Check the valve adjustment, both intake and exhaust. This is an annual  check/adjustment that rarely gets done when it should. Suzuki's are know for suffering tight valves due to wear on the valve faces and seats. This is what i usually check first with the kinda reverse backfire symptom. The 500 Zooks are pretty tough engines. Other than that i'll need more info for a better diagnosis. Good Luck!

exactly what happened 3 times on my bayou- fouled sp...  but yea, If a bike wont start, I always check these first:  gas, fuel valve is on, kill switch is not flipped, choke setting, spark, sp, air intake (for any clogging), compression, carb, then maybe timing, and other stuff...  Most of the time, it doesnt go that far haha-  it should be one of the above

As the title says, I've got a crankcase full of fuel / oil to deal with and figure I'll just start from the top and move through the system.  Going to start with a rebuild of the petcock and then the carb if the problem isn't fixed with the petcock rebuild.  I figure I'll go with a Moose kit unless others with experience recommend another brand (All Balls, etc.)
      Any suggestions?  Thanks in advance.

Hi guys, I have a 2004 big bear 400. Last winter while plowing the driveway, I heard a loud pop from the left side of the engine. It continued to run as I looked for leaky fluid, but then died shortly after backing it up and won’t start now. The oil light comes on when I try to start it, no noise or anything else.
No blown fuses that I can find.
