I met a couple of guys at Capitol Forest yesterday and one of them was riding a 505sx and he was nice enough to let me ride it. By far the fastest an best handling stock quad I have ever ridden, I was very impressed. He also had a 4mil Banshee that he let me mess around on, that thing was just plain wicked.

we have a friend that has been nice enough to let Nick race his KTM 450XC in the AA class (his trx450 motor is blown) the last two weeks until all the parts get here....he's SO wicked fast on that thing. definitely will be the next quad we buy...stock shocks rnt too bad and its got reverse..the thing is awesome.

I know, and I can't wait. There is one at the dealer where I bought my LTR, it has about $2,000 worth of accessories and has been sitting there since they first came out. The price is down to $7100, hopefully it is still there for a while cause I wan't it bad, but I can't afford it right now. I stop in from time to time just to sit there and stare at it. That is how I ended up with my LTR, I had no intention of buying anything I was just wishing I could and then I left with it.

Posted

I am only 5'9" so it fits me just fine, I think that Hondas are the best for taller people because the bars sit higher so you aren't so hunched over. My LTR was a little strange before I replaced the steering stem with a taller one, but the KTM felt perfect to me.

one of the AA racers in nick's class is over 6 foot and rides the KTM..hes won 2 races on it this year...seems to be working for him. maybe he put some mods on it--steering stem, etc.

if anyone gets a chance to grab one for 7000 do it...if you can. that's a flippin steal. theyre over 9000 here...

If I could, I would buy it right now. I still owe too much on my LTR to get what I owe out of it since I have wrecked it a couple times and you can buy a new one for dirt cheap right now. They were asking 11k for it when they first got it cause they loaded it with a bunch of aftermarket goodies, so 7k is quite a deal, I just need to figure out how to pull it off.

I wouldn't get one for 4000. They feels so horrible. IMO they are worse than the Raptor, and I won't buy a machine just because it has upgrades. All those upgrades don't mean squat if you're uncomfortable...good for the guy in Nick's class, I know people who think the Raptor is comfortable.

Posted

I think that Raptors are the most uncomfortable quads I have ever ridden, they are just too tall. The YFZ was really awkward at first, but not as bad as the Raptor. Although, even though I don't prefer the way either of those machines feel, I can get adjusted enough to ride one all day and have fun doing it. I can imagine how that would be more difficult for a taller person though.

Posted

if it were $4000, i'd buy two or three :) i guess its all about your size and how you ride. when i rode it around our yard and in the woods i wanted one immediately, but the suspension has been totally tweeked from stock...I actually liked it better than my Honda (just don't tell her that--i need to win this weekend :) )

Posted

Being 6'2", there are not a lot of machines that are comfortable to ride. On the KTM, the shroud that attaches to the bottom portion of the gas tank near the seat would make my knees bleed. I talked to a guy that had one and he said his knees were beat to death black and blue from that seam in the plastics. I guess this is an issue that tall people get from the KTM. The footpegs and the seats put you on top of the bars, not my style of riding. I sit down almost the entire time, I felt like I was squating like a baseball catcher.

Posted

oh, see, i stand a lot, in the woods with roots, rocks and ruts if you don't youre bounced all over the place and after 2 hrs of hard riding your insides feel like they're a can of soda that was shooken for an hour...

i like the ktm, just as i like my honda....

Posted

I loved the KTM until I sat on one. I had been considering trading in my Honda but the ergos bit me.

I'm one of those wierd ones, even in the woods with the rocks, roots, and ruts I sit mostly. Well I keep my butt about an inch above the seat and hold on like hell with my knees. Almost like a jockey on a horse.

Posted

I have my butt on the seat or hanging off the side of it unless I am jumping, going though whoops or if I am being bounced around too much. I like to keep my center of gravity as low as possible because I am hauling as* most of the time.

me too, you'd be amazed how much faster i am when i stand....

off to unadilla tomorrow :) check me out in live scoring on the

ATVs (All-Terrain Vehicles) have long been synonymous with off-road adventures, providing an exhilarating escape from the daily grind. Traditionally powered by gas engines, these rugged vehicles have recently undergone a transformative shift toward eco-friendliness and sustainability. Electric ATVs for adults have emerged as a thrilling and environmentally conscious alternative, revolutionizing the off-road experience. In this article, we explore the exciting world of electric ATVs and how they are reshaping the way adults embrace adventure.
      1. Eco-Friendly Powerhouses:
One of the most significant advantages of electric ATVs is their eco-friendly nature. Unlike their gas-powered counterparts, electric ATVs produce zero emissions, resulting in a reduced carbon footprint. With increasing concerns about climate change and environmental sustainability, electric ATVs offer a guilt-free way to explore nature while preserving the beauty of off-road trails for future generations.
      2. Quiet Performance:
Electric ATVs provide a noticeably quieter experience compared to traditional gas-powered models. The absence of a loud engine allows riders to connect more intimately with nature, appreciating the sounds of birds chirping and leaves rustling. This stealthy advantage also makes electric ATVs a perfect fit for those living near noise-sensitive areas, ensuring an uninterrupted off-road experience without disturbing local communities.
      3. Instant Torque and Responsive Power:
Electric ATVs boast impressive torque and power delivery right from the start. Electric motors offer instantaneous torque, allowing riders to experience rapid acceleration and impressive handling capabilities. This responsiveness enhances the overall thrill of riding, making electric ATVs an adrenaline junkie's dream.
      4. Low Maintenance:
Electric ATVs simplify maintenance for riders. With fewer moving parts and no need for oil changes, spark plugs, or air filters, electric ATVs reduce the overall maintenance requirements. This means less time spent on repairs and more time spent enjoying the great outdoors. Furthermore, regenerative braking systems commonly found in electric ATVs help recharge the battery while slowing down, enhancing overall efficiency.
      5. Extended Riding Range:
Range anxiety, a concern often associated with electric vehicles, is becoming less of a worry with the advancements in battery technology. Modern electric ATVs offer extended riding ranges, allowing adventurers to explore vast territories without running out of power. The availability of charging infrastructure, such as off-road charging stations and portable chargers, continues to expand, making long-distance off-roading a feasible reality.
      6. Customizable Riding Experience:
Electric ATVs for adults often feature advanced electronic controls that allow riders to personalize their experience. With adjustable power modes and traction control settings, riders can fine-tune the performance to match their skill level and terrain conditions. Additionally, features like smartphone connectivity, GPS tracking, and customizable lighting options enhance convenience and safety while adding a touch of modernity to the ATV experience.
      7. Cost Savings:
While the initial purchase price of electric ATVs may be higher than traditional models, the cost of ownership over time tends to be lower. Electric vehicles have fewer mechanical parts that can wear out, resulting in reduced maintenance costs. Moreover, electricity costs are often significantly lower than gasoline prices, making electric ATVs more economical to operate in the long run.
      Conclusion:
Electric ATVs for adults have emerged as an exciting and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional gas-powered models. Offering thrilling performance, extended riding ranges, and customizable experiences, these eco-conscious vehicles are revolutionizing the way adults explore off-road terrain. As the world embraces a more sustainable future, electric ATVs are propelling us toward an era of adventure that harmonizes with nature. So, gear up and embark on unforgettable journeys with the electric ATV revolution.

Hello everyone! I have several ATVs for on farm use. 5 are Polaris : a Magnum 330, two sportsman 500 models, and two Sportsman 700 models.
I also have a Yamaha and a Suzuki.
All are older models and constantly needing repairs. So looking forward to wealth of knowledge on here 🙂

I have noticed lately that the ATV tires i generally buy have upped in price quite a bit. The Kenda EX that i generally get are sold out and not available at this time, the EVO which is usually my second choice has increased 50.00 on a set of 4. The HTR Kendas best tire is now 150.00 per tire. Even the Sun F have increased but not so much as the others.

My 2004 Yamaha Grizzly 660 is still going strong but the battery has not been holding a charge. I replaced it a few years back and have been jumping it lately but after sitting for a few days, it drains out. I recently purchased two car batteries from Weize directly because it was a good price for an AGM. I looked on weize for a YTX20HL-BS and its an AGM at $59.99. I believe they have a promo code you can find. Found it cheaper on Amazon and intalled it yesterday.

I ended up buying the same one on Amazon which is $49.99 with a $20% coupon bringing it down to $39.99, which is a pretty good price for an ATV AGM battery.

Just a heads up if anyone needs a new ATV/UTV battery going into winter.
YTX20HL-BS fits a a good amount of models.
