The Burmese Python is huge.  However, the African Rock Constrictor is smaller but very aggressive.  It is somewhat common in semi urban areas around Miami.     Dade Fire dept used to have ..probably still do ..have a special response team for constrictor attacks.

The big constrictors have a high mercury level and it is not recommended that they be eaten. The Nile Monito lizzard  gets up to 8 ft long. Its main attack is to sweep you with its tail breaking your legs with one swipe. Those were in some James Bond movies.  They are as far north as Kissimmee, FL

THere is a winter ...January snake Rodeo also.

BTW there are no snakes on the Island of Bermuda and they keep it that way.

GOOOOD MOrning  Gander Newfoundland!  Wow just arriving at the airport is such a thrill knowing the tradition of Gander people.  Opening their homes to the 7,000 people stranded there on 9/11 !

On the wall of the airport is a picture of B-17 Flying fortresses lining the runway during WII.  Still today it is the GO-TO airport for aircraft in trouble during transatlantic flights.

BTW Women pilots did the B-17 ferrying...Just saying LOL

And the Salmon OMG ! I got  the salmon tongue at dinner.

Moving down the warm Golf stream current from Gander, NF.  Good Morning Bermuda!   Only 600 miles off the coast of N Carolina.  Beautiful pink sand beaches.

My hotel was in old part of town.  The shower and rest room was down the Hall...That was different.  Hotel had cozy bar and restaurant.  Men do  not have to wear a coat and tie  in the restaurants any more... but but jeans and tennis shoes... NO you have to eat at the bar.   I don't do  Bermuda Chowder either.

Shirtless in public except at beaches will get you in trouble.  Oh yes there is no fresh water on Bermuda....Cisterns collect rain water.

No car rentals ...scoter rentals... but me I taxi... they drive on the wrong side of the road

Gooood Morining (Its afternoon there now) Camp Bondsteel, Kosovo....The US Army and KFOR Flags still fly over Pristina below.  You are the anchor of protection in the Balkans yet today.  I remember the huge expansive, unbreeched 'Kill zone' around the Camp.

it's privately owned. so picnicking allows alcohol or it did when I was there. Very congenial owners..   They limit the number of people in the water so that's nice. With temperatures in the upper 90's here in Fla. it is a retreat .

GOOOOOD MOrning  Valley of Fire Nevada!   Leave the gambling behind and do something you can win at.  (I don't gamble. Life is risky enough)

GoooD Moorning Las Vegas…”Viva,🎵Viva Las Vegas!”   I Love Elvis Presley.

As you depart for home, your plane may climb out to the west. Below, the sun may shine brilliantly on Red Rock Cayon below.   Great Hiking and  4X4 tour area.

Don’t go near the Wild Burros they are mean!

But to the south from your plane look for Mt Potosi.  It rises up high and  overlooks the Red Rock Cayon. High on Mt Potosi are the remains of a DC3 that crashed in 1942 embedded in the mountain.

Horse drawn wagons (there were no roads then) and men hurried to the mountain. After a day or so of laborious climbing they reached the crash site.

Clark Gable waited in anguish alone at the restaurant nearby on word of his wife Carol Lombardy who was on board the fatal flight. All were lost ..Requiescat in Pace  Carol Lombardy et al.

Hey, Good Morning Butcher Holler Kentucky.  I had to go there. It is a Pilgrimage for some of us.  The road back there is narrow one lane most of the way. It is lined with local folk who tolerate the visitors.  It's not a house it's a home.  You can tell.  It is beautiful. The picture herewith is from the internet but it's exactly how the house looks from the road across the ravine.  I can just imagine Lorretta Lynn playing in the yard when she was a child.

GOOOD moroning PEI,...Aeghh!   Prince Edward Island the smallest province in Canada but arguably the most beautiful. Located on the Gulf of St Larwence you cannot go far on the Island without seeing the ocean. Been there several times ( The airport has signs printed in Japanese as there are so many tourists from Japan) go figure. But every time go I am impressed by the friendly people and the spectacular scenery.  Never seen the whales. Darn it.

But the first time OMG will never forget!  Girls always remember the first time...  my first boyfriend , First date  First real kiss..wow but PEI was my first ...

time I tasted TIM HORTONS COFFEE!   Heaven be blessed i was addicted.  I get regular orders from Amazon so I ever run out.  I buy bens and use a Burr grinder

Toujours Frais

Goood Morning Dog Days!

Wow it is the middle of the heat of Dog Days…OMG.  Back home they have gone from Dandelion greens and asparagus just a few weeks ago to now fresh Half Runner green beans, corn on the cob, zucchini, onions, and strawberries.   Get out the canner.  Snapping beans all morning under the shade tree,  Home made ice cream on Sunday after church and sleeping next to an open window at night to stay cool.

Chicken at every meal as we had to eat the old chickens as the new White Rock layers were starting to lay eggs.   I hated plucking old chickens, but I loved the egg yokes, liver and hearts floating in the gravy.

Ten (10) gallon crocks of sauerkraut stinking up the house.  Check the moon signs before making kraut or cutting your nails.

And the kids are picking Blackberries along the fence row,  Watch out for copperheads as they are blind during Dog Days and will strike at anything that moves.

BTW Dog Days is a remnant tradition of the Holy Roman Empire.

Reading your post brought back lots of memories of days gone by. When i was a kid my grandfather owned a dairy farm they had 7 kids so when the crops came in everyone came, lots of cousins and we all sat around shelling peas and butterbeans and shucking corn and of course there were several homemade ice cream freezers going at once and the boys got to turn the crank,  there were also several water melons in the creek. To get them cold.

As far as the chickens go i still laugh about this when i think about it, grandma sent me out to get a chicken i was probably 9 , she told me just how to do it, catch the chicken grab him by the neck swing him around, she called it ringing his neck, then throw him on the ground, so i finally caught a chicken, easier said than done, i did just what she told me threw him down and he just got up and ran off. Of course they were all hiding around the corner watching me and laughing. They knew what was going to happen just a whole family of pranksters. So the next day grandpa sent me out to the barn to get him a skyhook, i didnt really know what a skyhook was but i was sure i had seen one in there, so i got what i thought would certainly be it and i brought it to him, he said thats not it , how am i going to hook that to the sky, my response was i thought you would know. Those were great times with family that will live forever in my memory, so enjoy yours, its the most fun you will ever have.

Goood Morning Mr. Florida Snapper turtle...Came across this guy crawling out of a pond this morning while on my morning bike ride. stopped and got his pic.  I made the mistake one day of trying to move a snapper off the road when i was bike riding.  He almost got me.  (Florida law says you must move gofer turtles off road if you see them. They are endangered due to Venereal disease...WTH..LOL)

This guy will take you finger clean off with one bite.   His jaw force is 1,000 psi

Snow Shoe Rails to Trails held their annual chicken BBQ event. Food sold out in one hour! (400 dinners) They had a drive through option for those who were not riding.  Weather was warm, but cooled off decently at night. Was good to finally get out camping and riding.

Another great weekend at Snow Shoe Rails to Trails for their annual pig roast. Thursday and Friday nights were quite cool at night. We run a buddy heater in the tent to keep warm. One of our members brought a drone and was able to get some cool video. Ill have to put it together and upload it to Youtube. They were sold out of food by 2:15pm. Trailhead was packed and they had to use two overflow areas for parking. I took a few snapshots from the drone video. One is a railroad viaduct that a few years ago we were able to cross it on our quads. It has been closed for a few years now.

      3 weeks in a row!
The Wife and I are heading back out to Leota
      http://www.upnorthtrails.org/trails/leota-trail.html
Why Leota you might ask,and not somewhere new?
Cause there are lots of trails to ride, and my old as* has to get familiar with the trails so I do not take a wrong turn.
...and Yes I already took a few wrong turns...getting better tho.

Have A Great and safe weekend everyone!
