My brother has an 04 Scrambler 500 4x4. The other day I was riding it and I notice when I had it in 2wd and would give it a lot of throttle, 4wd would engage. I know when the AWD button is on and the rear tires spin/ loose traction its supose to engage. The whole time we've owned it, once we put in AWD, it's all time 4wd, it wouldn't engage when the tires spin. I dont know if it's supose to be like this or what. Any ideas?

Thanks

Exactly. I post this somewhere else and a guy said to change hub fluid. So I did and it helped, but it still does a little bit. So figured I'll just change a few more times. ..I havent got the chance to see them in concert yet. Last time I was supose to In Peoria, but had work.:aargh:

Just getting into this issue really. Been replacing solenoids but now I'd like to track down the problem. This time I'm not getting neutral/reverse lights or start button. Was on a creek ride when it started doing this recently. It cranks by arcing the solenoid and gives me no light or start button but if I crank with the pull cord....the neutral light and the button work. Turn it off and try to crank with the key and nothing. I'm looking into the safety switch issue tomorrow and re charging the battery. Just figured this was odd enough of a problem that you guys might be familiar. Thanks

MY MAX 4 6X6 2009, now this will actually go anywhere including across the water. In the 3rd photo I had gone up the river about 30 meters then climbed up the bank, 6X6 owners call it "swimming"

Does anyone know  the orientation of the bell crank for scrambler 400 2x4 it was not hooked up when I bought quad the way  i put it high goes into reverse and vise versa I flipped it 180 but that put  the shift rod at big angle and it just kinda grinds into gears so dnt think that is right either pretty sure it has to be the exact orientation and the rod adjusted accordingly but I cant seem to find it anyone knows please help
