Hi, I have a 90 cc Kolpin quad with a couple of issues. The oil pump took a crap so now I mix oil/gas. The machine does not accelerate properly. Im using a chainsaw mix for gas. 32:1. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Bruce

Did it run good anytime since the pump went out & you've been mixing the fuel & oil? I'm not sure on using chainsaw oil in your quad. I run Yamalube in ours. Did you run the quad without the pump working and how long if you did?

It started out full tank of oil, It all drained to the cylinder. Took it in , mechanic said you have dirt in the pump. Mix oil/gas and no oil in tank he said it would be ok. Is there any way to check pump? Bruce

Did the mechanic clean out the pump ? I would use a 2 cycle oil made for that quad Find out what the ratio is Also Pull your plug and see what color it is

I'm sorry to have to disgree with your mechanic. If the quad was run without oil being pumped to the engine that will cause engine damage. I don't understand how all the oil from the tank got in the cylinder if the pump quit working. Their is a term washed out when too much fuel which in your case fuel & oil over loads the cylinder and can cause damage to the cylinder & rings. Did the mechanic check the spark pulg, comprission on the motor check the carb etc? A 2 stroke should smoke but how bad was or is yours smoking.

Hangingon, Im going to pull the plug tonight and do a compression test. What is a good compression reading? Plug should be a tanish brown correct? If black and sooty its runing to rich. Is this right? Also on the carb, there is a cylindrical piece srewed to it with wires coming from it. Im thinking it is an electric choke. Is there away to test it? Thank you for your time, knowledge, and patients.

Did a compression test and got 100psi on the gauge.

Not knowing what it should be 100 psi sounds like it got plenty of compression ! My moneys on the chain saw mix oils that you use I would get some fresh gas and NEW 2cycle oil and mix it ! We used to do it in the 70`s when my Yammi 360 enduro`s injector pump went out and it worked fine !! although 32:1 seen kinda rich !! I use to run my 88LT250R at 50:1 JMO

Check the plug for being wet to from raw fuel & yes your right about running rich. The black plastic part is the choke I'm not sure how to check it. I had my daughters off last night and turned the key and it didn't move just a guess until the quad is warm would it move but in this case it would have to be mounted on the carb. The only way I know ours works is by starting the quad and once it warms up it idles down. For the compression I dont know you should be able to do a search and find a range it should be in. With any motor over time it's going to lose some compression over the years.

I also read what Quadnut said I agree 100% I would drain the fuel tank and get fresh gas & oil and a spark plug their under 3.00 I bought Yamalube 2 stroke oil I think it was aroud 9.00 for a qt. it will last a long time. Also check your air filter a dirty air filter can effect how it runs.

I went to the Koplin site to check out the Koplins. They seem to be the same as the e-ton which is what we have. It should be the same carb air filter box looks the same as well the head may be different by what I saw but yours is newer so they could have changed them later on. The left side motor cover as sanyco their used in scooters. And alot of the youth quads that are of good quality.

Sorry 1 more thing if you drain the tank and put new fuel & oil in before you refill the tank. On the bottom of the carb you have a drain hose just above it theres a screw if you unscrew the screw it will drain out the gas & chainsaw oil in the carb as well. On my daughters it has a fuel filter between the fuel cock and carb may want to check to see if yours has a filter and it's not clogging up our fuel filter is clear so you can see any trash.

Hi, I have been around everything with a motor since I was little, and finally purchased more to get my husband, and kids involved. I have 4 quads I will be searching around for information on. I have two 2002 Suzuki LT80K quads, a 1997 Yamaha Timberwolf 250, and a 1996 Kawasaki Bayou 220. I have had different ones throughout the years, and plan on buying another Yamaha Banshee. I plan on trying to learn more about all of them, so I can customize some of them. I know nothing about them besides how to race them, my dad always took care of the rest, but figured it was time for me to learn.

I like to ride in wooded and grassy areas. It takes my mind off the everyday routines and helps me deal with my father's cancer. Also gives me a reason to get involved with forums like this one.
