Hi all,

this is my first post here and i have a very important question that maybe someone will tell me what they would do. My friend has a 2003 kawasaki bayou 250 that he has been wanting to sell. It needs new brakes all around and new back tires. Now heres the thing he is convinced that it has piston knock. However, from what ive found its very unusual that a bayou this new has piston problems or needs a rebuild. Ive read that sometimes the timing chain may just be slightly loose. Because he is convince it has major problems he wants to sell it to me for $200 bucks. What are the chances of me coming out ahead on this and what are the chances of me losing my as*?

thanks

ps im going to look at it tomorrow

Thanks for all your help guys. I went to ride it today an look at it. Its solid for $200. I mean the thing has some small problems worn brake pads, worn tires, slight piston knock. Honestly though i was expecting to go look at it and it sound like it was about to blow up. I honestly can barely hear the knock and if it gets too bad ill fix it. Ill never really lose money on it and thats what i wanted. I have always ridden a bayou 350 4x4 and Im amazed at how much more fun the 250 is. Its just so light and agile compared to the 350 beast. I bought it and am picking it up tomorrow along with some brake pads and some new grips.

Hi guys, I was given a 2000 Honda Recon fourtrax 250 (I think that's the full name lol). The previous owner had it sitting for a while before I got it. It sat for another few years in my ownership. I got it up and going on its first test drive today!! I was wondering where everyone buys their parts from?  Coming from the car community, we have sites like RockAuto and many more. Anything like that for quads? Also would like to be pointed in a direction, if possible, for plastics. I am missing a few and would like to have it complete. I appreciate any input!

Hi all.  New to the forum & quads.  Seems like a great place full of info.
I just recently picked up a 2005 Suzuki KingQuad LTA700.  I need a battery.  I've been reading up on conventional vs AGM types.  I have a Royal Distributing and Canadian Tire.  RD has 2 types avail for my year/Model a battery YTX16-BS CRANK $75, and BATTERY YTX20CH-BS YUASA $140.  Neither of these is the type from the manual FTZ16-BS.
from what I can tell... I think the only difference is the capacity with the $75 unit rated at 14 AH/10HR and the $140 unit rated at 18 AH/10HR ... which is the rating in the manual for the FTZ16-BS.  How much does this make a difference for nearly x2 the cost?
And about the models/type numbers.... what is important to know ... they all end in "-BS" but are the other details relevant or just manufacturer naming?

Just picked up an 84 LT185 ATV, I understand there was an accessory add  on that gave it electric start, anyone have any info about that kit?
